Failed to download or apply critical settings, please check your internet connection

this appears when I try to start up roblox either from the site or the app
I’m on windows 10 so it should be fine
I have chrome and brave neither of them work
I even tried using the app and that didn’t work either
Roblox studio works though

I was playing a hour ago normally then I went offline and tried opening Roblox again and this appeared out of no where I tried EVERYTHING to correct this issue But nothing works
Expected behavior

Roblox should Start up and I should be able to use the application and play games

have you restarted your computer and/or router? seems more like an issue with your device rather than roblox, just a thought

yes I even cleared my internet settings on my computer

Recently started having this problem, it’s very random as to when it happens. It will randomly start giving me that error, then disappear when I join a different game or through a friend’s profile.

It’ll also pop up when I’m using RAM to have multiple instances open at once, with one being able to open but the others giving me the error message. I have no clue what is going on or why it’s happening, but I assume it’s something to do with ROBLOX if I’m not the only one having the issue.

I found a solution but I don’t recommend it
You have to disable your firewall in windows which is sketchy I’m not marking this as a solution.

You don’t need to disable completely your firewall.
Especially after Microsoft ended security support on 10.
You can just configure it for Roblox studio by

instructions

going to the windows defender firewall, there should be an Allow app or feature button. Browse
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Roblox\Versions\LatestFolder\RobloxPlayerBeta.exe
(Replace YourName with your windows account name and LatestFolder with the latest folder).
Select it → Add → check private and public → click ok
If it happens also for Roblox studio try doing the same but with RobloxStudioBeta.exe

Still happening but im not taking the time out of my day to give you logs for now im playing on a virtual machine
