"Farming Adventures!" in Open Beta

Hey Developers!

I’m Khronikus, co-owner of Khronos Development. After a few months of work, we are proud to announce that our first game, Farming adventures!, is now out in beta.

Farming Adventures is all about farming. Start with a basic apple tree and work your way up different crop rarities to get extraordinarily rare mythical crops! (At this moment, however, we only have a few common crops within the game.) Hire farmers to help you out while you complete daily quests to earn gold and gems.

Many features are not out yet, but this game has recently been deemed ‘playable.’ In the coming weeks, we plan on adding hundreds (yes, hundreds) of new crops and decorations. Alongside that, we’ll be adding new farmers, themes, the ability to trade with your friends and trade across all servers, chests to get rare crops, and so much more!

We’re looking for feedback and lots of it. Any criticism is welcome. We do already understand the following:

  • The game is too slow at the beginning
  • The game lacks action
  • The game could use more features

We’re trying to make this game as fun as possible, but it is a farming game, which is a little boring. Let us know if there are any ideas of ways the game could be more exciting!

This game is absolutely amazing, the ui, animations and everything! I have seen tho, theres nobody on the leaderboard yet 6 people playing in my server? not sure why

I really enjoy this game, the ui is incredible, the builds, and I don’t even know how you got that path texture, it looks amazing. The only thing I didn’t like was the missing fences around my plot, only after a little confusion did I realize that you’re not able to place outside of the invisible square. I though since there were only fences on some sides I thought I would be able to place outside. Other than that, it’s just awesome.

just from this topic i can see its a good game. is it a simulator tho? i dont mean to be rude but… i havent seen a farming game that isn’t a simulator on roblox yet, which is kinda depressing.

Love it, and I’m enjoying it quite a lot.
The decorations of the game, the mechanics and all the other things put into he game are great!

Hello, I spent about an hour playing here’s some feedback on what I’ve noticed :happy3:


Intro

  • Animations are clean and camera transitions are smooth.

  • Possibly have the plot Select buttons with a bit more color, since your UI seems to be brighter from the grey. Red Arrow and Green Select like the colors when you need to confirm a sell.

General Gameplay

  • So, not to be too nick picky but maybe instead of having a scythe, just replace it with a hand because it seems players are going to be hand picking what they harvest.

  • Marketplace looks fantastic.

  • Make it a bit more clear that when you click on a crop you can see its value.

  • I have no idea what the shield represents in the info GUI for crops.

  • More clarity on where the boundaries of your plot is, making the fence more full for an example.

  • Terrain Painter is a neat idea.

  • Possibly deactivate the teleport portals on plots that are not used.

  • Music is nice.

  • NPC models are well done, along with all the other models in this game, shows that its a quality game.

  • I race my NPC to get to crops for quests, not that big of a deal yet sometimes frustrating.

  • Teleport can maybe use a delay? I’m probably just silly but I ran into it 5 times in a row and noticed maybe a short delay can just make the tp smoother altogether.

  • I’m playing on higher graphics levels so grass kind of makes it hard to see your crops through the grass, although it looks nice around the environment. I’m sure the terrain painter can help.

Early Game [1 Hour+]

  • Money making is slow at the beginning. Its more worth to save then buy a product that will only yield 2 dollars after one harvest. Even at that, for some it takes 2 harvests to make a profit (carrots for an example), which can slow gameplay.
    *Here for 30-45 minutes and I have 10 crops 3 of which I profit after 2 harvests and 2 NPCs, I’m poor.

  • Players don’t have too much incentive to buying upgrades for NPCs opposed to buying more expensive crops early game.
    After getting stomped by the potato-wheat upgrade I added another NPC very bored

  • After about an hour I decided to just become a potato farmer since it yields better profit then anything else combined. Potato Potato Potato

By this time I decided to leave, since I wasn’t enjoying anything.

In conclusion, the game at first has a lot of potential. It runs well, it just doesn’t take too long for players to disengage. If I was not reviewing the game, after 15 minutes the game feel like slave labor. Besides that, like I said the game has a lot of potential to do great.

The biggest issue is engaging with the player which already seems like a priority so I hope some of my feedback will help fix it.

Awesome feedback! Thanks for testing the game.

  • We will be redesigning the crop inspection menu, we agree that it’s not very clear and doesn’t show very useful information.
  • Several people have now suggested making the fence full. Will do.
  • We’re gonna redo the teleport pad, it’s a bit strange to spawn like 5 studs away from it (which also allows people to accidentally walk right back onto it)
  • To prevent a harvest race between you and your farmers, we’re gonna add a button in the crop inspection menu to prevent farmers from tending to it (we just need to find a good way of making it clear which button does what)
  • The terrain grass is definitely a bit in the way, unfortunately (as I’m sure you know) the un-decorated terrain and leafy grass are less annoying but uglier… Do you think we should just leave the grass and let players fix it themselves when we add the terrain painter, or should we make it dirt/leafy grass and players can add back the grass themselves if they want it? ​
  • We will certainly be looking into increasing the pacing of the gameplay, we’ve heard a lot of people complain about it being too slow (and we find that ~60% of players leave the game in under 10 minutes, not sure if this is normal or because it’s just too boring).
  • The farmer upgrades are actually very good, do you have any suggestions about to incentivize the upgrades (perhaps making them cheaper)?

This game is beautiful! I think I’ll play it in my free time! One thing I would recommend is to have a settings that can take you to different server types (which would have different rendering methods, probably just ShadowMap and Future). This is because the game seems to be in Future mode, and it looks great, but low-end devices may struggle with this. Maybe for the second server have some way to copy everything from the spawn place, if that’s possible.

Really well programmed and made, a few of the models are a bit laggy i guess because of the high part count, for things like tomatoes, you might want to export and reimport as an fbx, or just lower the poly count…
Not gonna comment on the gameplay - not my type of game…

This is causing some rendering lag and has very nasty collision… If there were a few players this developed it would probably upset most medium power computers…

We’ve gotten a few reports of the insane lag coming from that player’s base. We have a few ideas of how to reduce the amount of lag.
