I am currently working on a low poly block game for Roblox and I would really appreciate it if someone can give me some useful feedback on the Dirt Blocks that I have made.
Do also let me know if certain patterns or colours require some altering to improve on.
These all look cool but but the dirt bits look a bit flat in the two with more detailed textures.
I also think the third one looks quite bright/neon which might need to be toned down - depends on the rest of the game though.
Great work otherwise
And I had a place entirely removed just using the words “with Formula One cars” in the title of my game.
Yes, there are multiple places and models on Roblox that use that term. I made a pretty good Mesh of a Formula One car in the place which I don’t believe is copyrighted, but there were no markings on the Mesh that would have affected advertising copyrights.
Just giving my opinion. It may not be right, but from what I’ve seen if the company that owns the copyright wants to badly enough they can get your place deleted.
And @epicbuilder918 's post was just their opinion as well. Doesn’t make their answer right.
I guess it depends on the overall theme/style of the game.
On their own they look good. It’s clear that they are dirt blocks and the colors are nice.
Formula One itself is a copyright that covers nearly everything about the brand. Making dirt blocks is not violating copyright, because Minecraft hasn’t (and can’t) copyright dirt blocks.
My point is that while this creation strongly resembles a Minecraft asset, it is an original work. Minecraft does not own a copyright on all pixellated blocks, it only owns copyright for Minecraft assets.
In your case, you directly used Formula One’s name and designs. Had you created a parody like “Formula Two” and modeled original car designs, your work wouldn’t have infringed copyright.
They look good! I would make the suggestion that you don’t make the blocks look too similar to Minecraft though, it’ll look like you are copying it.
I wouldn’t recommend using randomized hues of green for the grass block. Try making strips (or blades) of grass. For Example, look at the stone texture from Minecraft and see how the colours look somewhat separated and sort of stringy:
