This is super cool looking! Though like the others said, I would recommend upping the brightness. When working with military themed games, I’ve always found that it is best for longevity to pick gameplay over realism. Even though pitch black night looks cool, it can be frustrating to players when they can’t see the enemy.
OMG This looks amazing!! I really like the look and it also gives us a WW1 Vibe!! Really realistic, however if this is a shooter, it will be really hard to see and shoot anything so yep and the lanterns just look sooo realistic like if I am actually on a WW1 Front lol
. The lighting is amazing. I really wish if I could play your game!! However, your game may be pretty laggy to slow devices.
But I am simply speechless…
Yeah I’m just now realizing how dark it is lol; thanks for the feedback! It really means a lot!
Thanks so much for the feedback friend! Yeah I know how that feels when you get sniped and have no idea where it came from lol. I’m going to update it quick as I can and make it brighter so no worries.
Oh wow thanks for the feedback friend! Yeah I’m really big on lighting lol (imo it’s the most important part of any realistic game). As for lag, I’ll definitely have to run some tests, so thanks for the heads-up!
Hey guys! Just updated the trench and it’s lighting! Hope you guys like it! And plz give some more feedback…
Also, thought I should mention that for some reason the Forum makes the screenshots much darker than how it actually is in the game.
If it is a WW1 or WW2 game, shouldn’t there be some weapons, bloodstains laying around? looks to tidy and organized. Lighting looks great.
Why is there an M1 Garand in the shack? That weapon didn’t enter service until well after World War 1.
Great observation! I actually haven’t reached that part of the process yet, however, here’s a bit of a teaser for what everything is going to look like eventually.

Notice the subtle difference that the texture creates? It adds a bit of a worn look to everything. Later on in the dev process, I’ll slap this texture on just about everything to make the trench and everything in it look more worn.
Note: Texture was not made by me.
Funny you should ask that lol. I was contemplating on whether or not I should add the gun to the game for that very reason, but seeing as my Blender skills aren’t the greatest and I didn’t have too many free model choices, I decided to add it. It looked half decent and I figured nobody would really think too much about it lol. Apparently you have proved me wrong
Very nice but one concern I think that its really hard to see, also will you be using this for a showcase or a game?
Thanks for the feedback friend!
Preferably a game, but seeing as my programming skills aren’t the greatest it will likely be just an immersive/interactive showcase.
And as for the lighting, in-game it isn’t as bad as it looks in the screenshots seen here.
I think it is a Gewher 98 or a Mauser or maybe a Lee-Enfield or something.
I know that it’s an M1 Garand for at least three reasons.
First, this is the mesh he used.
Second,
They’re the same.
Third, all of the weapons you mentioned have a manually operated bolt. This one clearly does not have that.
Fourth, Mauser is an incredibly vauge term. Assuming you’re meaning the Kar-98 when you say that, that gun was also not in service during World War 1.
Sorry, I am not really good at world war guns
But is pretty hard to see the gun and determine which model it is because of the darkness.
Awww thanks man! I try to make the lighting in my experiences as realistic as possible, so it really means a lot to me.
Don’t stress it friend, everybody makes mistakes, and if it weren’t for people like @takenmake, there wouldn’t be many people to let us know that we’ve made a mistake lol.
Heyo everyone! I created a new scene in Trenchline! This is supposed to be filler for one end of the trench (starter end). It has basically no function other than to be a scenic barrier. Hope you guys like it!
As always, feedback is much appreciated!
It’s cool but that truck model was designed and produced in 1941, I wouldn’t recommend using it if your goal is most likely an immersive showcase. Looks good though.
Thanks so much for the feedback friend! Didn’t realize that the truck was that late of a design…I’ve been having a hard time keeping a good balance between aesthetics and historical accuracy tbh. Thanks again for the feedback!
ooh fire… however, I think you should place the truck on fire slightly away from the trench line cause no one is going to build a trench where there is fire.
And in the second picture it kinda looks too odd, gives me Forgotten Memories vibes.
So so sorry for the late reply friend!
Thanks for the feedback! The truck was supposed to have been hit and abandoned after the trench was already built, during the heat of battle I suppose. Also, it’s just supposed to be a scenic barrier. I gotta cut off the trench at some point, and I figured this was a cool way to do it.
