Feedback on my parkour game. Inspired by Karlson

IMPORTANT: This is my first showcase of my first indie game, the game is W.I.P right now.

:bulb: Introduction

Hello guys! A solo dev talking here. So, I’ve almost created an indie game, although it’s not complete, please review the game and give feedback so I can improve it further.

Outcore is a fast-paced parkour + shooter game with different *dimensions* each having different theme, a *core* and containing 9 different levels.

:running_man: Mechanics

Right now, there are a few mechanics that Outcore has:

Mechanics
  • Wallrun - Hold space while being in air (After jumping or falling) and touching wall sideways. (Only works on specific parts)

  • Slide - Hold E

  • Grapple & Super-Hook - Equip grapple gun and M1 for grapple and M2 for Super-Hook. (Only works on specific parts)

  • Bounce Pads - They have particles around them and when you fall on them, you will bounce back with 90% of your momentum.

  • Blaster - When you shoot it downwards, you will get launched in the air upwards.

  • Enemies - Not really added but to be added. Will be killable with blaster and auto-blaster.

  • Explosives - Explodes when they are shot, won’t send you to heaven but in air and will kill any enemy near to it.

:lady_beetle: Bugs and problems

This is my first large game so don’t expect it to be bug free. The music I used was just to test it it’s not actually for this game. I have a problem with sound effects and there are a few problems in the game as listed below:

Problems
  • I can’t build stages as I’m almost always busy so please help if you can.
  • Would be great if any of you could help me make the trailer.
  • There are also other problems, but the most important ones are these.

I think it’s good, the grapple tool is a bit buggy but other than that the game is good. What did you use for the grapple tool, is it rope constants?

Script, rope for grapple, beam for super-hook

Did you use the physics of the rope for the grapple or did you make your own? Rope physics in roblox aren’t the best but creating your own I would image is very difficult

woa i like how you used the winds of fjords lead. i’m also wondering how you change the pitch of the music without changing the speed.

its ez, just insert a sound effect (from insert menu) in the sound of your like and adjust it

I used rope physics by roblox because creating custom might be really difficult

Yea that’s fine, most games with good physics just mastered how to use Roblox’s and didn’t create their own

Looks pretty good, I like that music pitch is based off your speed

There are some bugs as if you open the menu right before dying

That gave me permanent blur somehow

There are 3 questions i wanna ask from my testers:

  1. Should i change the music?
  2. How should i fix the dark lighting while still letting the theme be dark.
  3. Does my UI look good?
    And ofc are there any bugs or improvements i can do?

Will there be mobile support? As a long time mobile player, it would be great to see mobile support for this!

I DONT know. Implementing mobile support will be very very very hard. I’ll try to do that but we’ll see.
