Feedback on my "realistic" car suspension

A-chassis use spring constraints, and I haven’t seen a single raycast suspension that works “realistically” as mine.

Yeah I don’t see that much tutorials on YouTube most of them outdated

There was one recent tutorial about raycasting suspension on roblox, but it felt really stiff imo.

Most of the tutorials seem to be going everywhere except the point of the video

It still looks great, plus with the new technology we have there may be a way to make this suspension system better

I don’t think a sedan would have suspension THAT open.

it has solid axles at the back in real life based on images i found. It’s a pretty old car back when american cars handled like trucks.

The issue with that type of leaf spring system is that for realism (for the way I did it) you’d need to use mesh deformation system to create the visual effect of the springs bending.
Also the 3 springs wouldn’t hold the axle in place without it moving fore and aft as well as side to side. I lock the axle to 2 hinge constraints (1 for tilting the axle assembly at the front end of the driveshaft and the other for allowing the axle to tilt side to side) so it doesn’t move except in the up/down axis.

Well they can if you tune the rigidity and stiffness correctly into the equation for raycast suspensions that is.

I wasn’t really talking about physical leaf springs, but ok.

An average sedan from the 50s can even off-road lol

what do you mean by open though?

Bouncy, its really bouncy. Sedans usually have stiff suspension.

Modern sedans have a really stiff and boring suspension since they no longer have the ability to off-road and roads nowadays are pretty smooth. But the car as seen in the video was from the 70s, and cars back then were made to have a soft and bouncy suspension since most roads were very rough back in the day and SUVs were pretty underrated, which gave the average sedan the ability to off-road back then.

It’s not A-chassis

To be honest, it’s like gta4 crazy physics, i mean in real world u don’t drive on ice or have suspension from an offroad truck

You look at modern cars too much or haven’t even played BeamNG lol

Though, I do agree that the tire grip is too slippery

If your car is very old, don’t have any stabilization systems, then it will have something like you did,

I played beamng, i didn’t like it too much, but it’s a good game, nice physics, i just don’t like how cars deform on slow speeds.

i mean probably your suspension length is too much, like a truck

Hehe, “in real world u don’t drive on ice”.
So you’ve never heard of anyone in the far northern or southern hemisphere drive on icy roads? Here in Canada (from not that far north all the way up past the Arctic circle we often drive on icy roads during the winter.

I mean, tires has very low grip, it feels like driving on ice, and i see any snow in this game
