I say all of them… abd also kinda make broken pipes in the cieling, have one of the shelves falling down… cobwebs, and just have some of the lights NOT work…
sorry my grammar is off in this post… in between developing and scrolling devforum
The lighting is definitely off. I’m no lighting expert, so I don’t know how to fix those weird shadows, but you should try to remove them. I think adding pipes and posters on the walls would help break up the flat walls.
So far your build looks great!
Here are some suggestions that I think would help:
• Add debris on the floor: broken jars, broken shelfs, paper, etc.
• Add broken windows
• Make the lights appear damaged. Having a few of the lights hang from the ceiling and constantly flickering.
• Add leaking pipes & vegetation.
Your gas station looks dusty, and dirty which perfectly suits the post-apocalyptic build you’re going for! However the new interior of the gas station looks quite the same I would give a couple of suggestions that could possibly improve your build.
I think one thing you can do is, at least from what I’m not seeing, is add some foliage to your build it would look more abandoned/post-apocalyptic if you added vegetation to your build such as (grass, vines, plants, mold). You could also add some broken window pieces on the floor with some flickering lights, and I think adding moss to the tile ground would make it look better.
I think you could also consider adding some spray paint on the shelves you should also add some dirt/stains around the windows or lamps to make it look even more unclean and realistic. With this, your gas station will possibly. Look even more appealing.
The shelves are missing price tags. You should try adding that once you place different food items on shelves and around the floor. Overall, while the gas station is unfinished, it’s a quite nice creation. Really good build though!
Try adding some soup cans, or food intended to last for weeks / months. Just like most said, add blinking lights, with particles too.
Make it so one of the door’s glasses are broken, and add a weapon nearby.
As GalaxyGourmet said, try adding something that resembles dust and adding dirt textures.
Add pipes and add a leaking effect.
Just like food, place water bottles and other drinks.
And most importantly, make as if the place was abandoned for a long while, such as moss / vine in the walls.
This doesn’t really make me think of a post-apocalyptic gas station. Try turning off some of the lights, and maybe make one or two blink. Maybe have some of the furniture be a bit destroyed, and not make it look new. Adding dust piles, dust particles, and anything else you’d see in an old room, would make the interior fit in more with the theme.
Looks way to bright, try experimenting with the lighting. Best of luck!
I feel like making it any darker will make players confused. The gas station will be used to buy weapons and such so I don’t want to make it confusing for new players.
One light does blink and I’ll turn off a light in one of the corners.
Also I’ll add dust piles, but what could I use to make dust particles and how should I make it?
I’ll definitely add soup cans or some other unperishables. I’ll make one of the windows broken too. Axes and bats are great ideas as well, thank you!
(Sorry for replying several times in a row, I’m pretty new to the DevForum)
Use a ParticleEmitter and play with it’s properties to your liking.
New updated interior, give me some feedback!
I’am gonna give all my suggestion in the post i made before, which is up.
I think it looks great, but just add more textures, graphics, smashed windows, add more windows, just make it look old and broken up. But right now, I think your on track it looks super good!
I like the updated version of the gas station interior I think it’s getting very close, I would consider adding some more textures, mainly on the shelves because it doesn’t quite look like it’s old or broken.
Try adding dirty posters on the wall since the ones you added don’t really fit well within your build, because they look brand new other than that you’re really getting there. I would try looking at some pictures just to give you some ideas.
The posters are actually vintage horror movie posters. (My game is not horror genre perse but it is zombies)
I’ll add some textues on the walls and shelves, thanks for the tip.
@Diguard, I’ll add everything you said, thank you!
It looks great but try fixing up the lighting
Literally read everyone’s post, you will literally see what you requested is being annoying right now.
I made the ceiling for the gas station lower and I dimmed the lights + got rid of the weird lighting.
Is it better or worse than before?
