About The Job

We are looking for a knowledgable and responsible individual to take on the role of lead scripter. You will be responsible for setting deadlines with other developers within the team, overseeing the completion of tasks, informing the COO and CEO of development progression made. You will as well be scripting alongside, we expect daily updates on progression. If you are unable to script on a certain day, anyone in the corporate division must be informed 2 days prior so we can find a suitable solution for the work missed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Lua, preferred 2 years +. You must present us with projects made and as well snippets of code that showcase your scripting ability. A list of proper coding practices and knowledge will be listed below, you may be quizzed on some concepts.

  • Leadership experience, preferred 6 months +. If you have ever had a role of leadership such as lead developer, project manager, group admin or equivalent, you will be questioned on it and the responsibilities given to you. A referral might be asked as well so we can ask how you did in a leadership position.

  • Must be in 11th-grade high school or higher, must be attending or will be attending university-level mathematical courses (academic), such as advanced functions, calculus, statistics or equivalent. Must be as well in an academic English course. We ask for these because the knowledge of mathematics can be used to demonstrate thinking skills/critical thinking.

  • Must have previous experience on projects, completed projects will be looked at first. These vary from small tasks done for clients to fully running games. If you have contributed to the creation of a popular game, you may be qualified to get an additional 15,000 robux added to your pay.

  • Not a qualification but you must submit a resume first, your personal information is not needed, just details regarding what you’ve done on Roblox and what qualifies you to be in this position.

  • Strong teamwork skills, you are working with a team! Any arrogance to team members, discrimination or sexism will NOT BE WELCOMED and will lead to the termination of your job. You are expected to work with the team and consider any suggestions and/or opinions given by any of the team members. No one is wrong, we want an environment where all ideas are taken into consideration.

Extra Qualifying Skills (not needed to apply)

  • Experience with other computing languages such as Java, C#, C++, Python, Javascript, PHP, etc.

  • Enrolled in some type of computer science course or technology course.

  • Going towards a computer science education or engineering education, associates, honors bachelors, masters, doctoral.

Defining Scripting/Programming Skills (MAY BE QUIZZED ON)

  • Knowledge of the existence of algorithms such as sorting or searching.

  • Knowledge of database structures, storage of data.

  • Universal programming concepts such as OOP, polymorphism, encapsulation, abstraction, agile development (system methodologies), DRY principals, naming conventions, commenting, etc.

  • Display critical thinking via Lua or language of your choice, solving mathematical problems with code.

  • Display knowledge of hiding data and finding any vulnerabilities within code, may be questioned on security issues and exploitation.

Payment

Starting pay is 50,000 R$, this will VARY ON WHOM THE APPLICANT IS. As stated above, you will receive an additional 15,000 R$ if have worked on well-known projects. If you successfully complete the game, you will as well be treated with another 15,000 R$.

Your qualifications far exceed the amount you are willing to pay. More specifically, the requirement to be attending university. Most university students need pay more similar to a real job, and have limited time due to classwork. Often they are also working a real job part time on the side. You’re unlikely to find any candidates.

Your pay: $140-280/month
Part-Time Minimum wage job (generally very lenient qualifications): >$870/month
Entry level programmer job: >$4000/month

For what you are asking you will not get anyone for that amount, 50k is what you would give for an intermediate roblox developer to work for you 1-2 months, and thats if your lucky.

For everything you are asking I would recommend looking towards a 7 digit payment.

Furthermore:

does not require half the qualifications you are asking for.

Judging from your post, you seem to be a registered business (if you’re not— pretending to be one makes you look silly). If so, why are you paying in Robux? And why are you paying in one lump sum instead of hourly.

Additionally you are asking for a candidate to focus entirely on the project— which seems unfeasible during 11th grade/year 12, which is a key time for a student’s future.

Also: Can you provide more details about this project? Why are you paying in a lump sum instead of %?

Just because I may quiz you on these concepts, doesn’t mean I expect a 100% pass. I am looking for someone who has a brief understanding of these concepts. Take ANY programming course, you cover most of these terms and practices in the beginning. If you don’t understand OOP logic and you’re applying as a lead developer, that is concerning.

My qualifications ask for, 2 years of lua experience, 6 months of leadership experience, previous project experience, strong teamwork skills and an understanding of simple mathematics. You get additional bonus robux added to your pay if you are even more qualified. Please read through the post carefully… “Extra Qualifying Skills” are just extra skills that are not necessary to apply with but you can showcase them to me if you have knowledge of them (totally optional).

I am in a degree program for computer science, I structured my post in a way so I find proficient scripters that understand basic programming concepts and know how to write secure script. You do not have to know everything, I just expect you to have a brief understanding of some universally taught concepts like object-orientated programming, encapsulation, etc. If my post came out way too professionally, I apologize, I have seen many job postings as I applied for an internship to many technology companies. Their structure might have rubbed off on me. I just expect you to have a good understanding of what you’re scripting, making sure the script cannot be exploited by an outside source and as well daily updates, that do not have to be significant. Much of the code has already been written, I am just in need of extra leadership within the team. My pay is in robux, I feel like 50,000 is a large chunk, I as well offer more robux for extra qualifications and as well more robux for the completion of the game.

Base pay: 50,000
Known dev for producing finished projects: +15,000
Completion of the game: +15,000

Depending on who the applicant is, 80,000 is the max payout.

The max payout is 80,000 robux, I will pay more if you’re qualified. That’s the whole point of this post, there is a base offer of 50,000 for any applicant, it increases if you are more qualified. A lot of the people that attacked me do not understand that concept and even 80,000 is minor to them.

what game is your team making so advanced that it would actually need a scripter at this level, let alone one that would take a pay so small compared to an actual job?

The game is almost completed, thus I just need someone to finish it because the current lead developer is busy with situations in real life. The new lead developer needs to be qualified because he/she/they need to be able to read and revise code already written, if you have minimal experience with lua, you may struggle with doing so since the structure that has been scripted is advanced. I wouldn’t call 80,000 small either, I need to earn that robux first, 80,000 doesn’t grow on trees.

The position is still open, 3 applicants have already applied. If you want to apply regardless to these opinions stated because they wont be paying you for the work, I will, please have a ROBLOX RELATED resume prepared with projects and what qualifies you to work for me.

I will now ONLY BE replying to comments that show interest, thank-you.

I actually think the original post was very informative and direct (in terms of pay and skills needed). Since possible prospects are aware of what skills they should have before wasting time applying for a position they are not qualified for. Don’t understand why people are bashing and arguing over payment, if you are not interested say so and keep moving.

These qualifications levels are extremely high for less than 350 USD job for over 2 months. For a professional job, R$ seems pretty insubstantial as said before. You are throwing away opportunities for great developers by requiring unnecessary qualifications and needs. The chances of you finding someone who is going to be applying to those sorts of university courses, and a daily job through over 1-2 months that pays so little with such strict regulations are extremely slim. I don’t know if see myself attending those university courses in the future and I’ve made well over millions of R$ off of development that has taken less than 2 months. Point being, you shouldn’t neglect willing developers based off of their academic results, especially for a ROBLOX commission that doesn’t pay much if you put it into perspective. I would suggest you cut down on some of your requirements and increase the pay. If your claim of being an investor of millions of R$ is true, I would suggest you tremendously up the pay, especially if you’re not going to give them a %. If you have already put hundreds of thousands of R$ into the development, and this doesn’t even include a scripter (bearing in mind that your game will not function without one), I really don’t see why you wouldn’t consider these points.

Please do not take this as an attack, it might seem harsh but this is constructive criticism.

Offering 80k is a far stretch for me too, I never offered this much before. Note that, as an investor as well, my robux is always circulating, I need the capital in order to finance my operations and pay my rent, tuition as well.

People assume I can afford to drop 300k, I can but I would need to sacrifice certain things that I am currently doing.

Then why not give a % if you don’t have the money to pay, because this doesn’t seem enough to interest most commisioners. There are plenty of experienced scripters with great nice to haves on this platform that would happily accept your work if it didn’t have so many almost unfair requirements. As a developer it is fair to say that everything about it contains risk, and if you’re willing to take that risk then you’re striving for the gain. If you have paid this much R$ for the project so far, I’m sure you’ll be expecting a high income off of it which would easily pay off how much you’ve spent on development within max a couple of months. If you’re struggling with payments, maybe search for an investor? It all depends on what you’re willing to do. You can do a lot without straight-up pay, such as paying them daily/weekly, adding percentages, increasing time scale etc.

It’s your game, so it’s obviously up to you but you should look at this from a different stand point.

I would be willing to give equity on the condition the scripter will stick along after beta releases. I don’t want to give equity if the developer will leave the team.

I have investors as well but I have hired previous scripters that took the robux and didn’t finish the job. I am really on the edge with scripters now. The project has been extended past it’s due date, I hired expensive scripters with the investments, they did not do a good job. As well a modeler that overcharged me for something my current one would have created for 15k robux.

I do not like throwing robux in the garbage, it really hurts me how unappreciative people are. Coming here, telling me that what I offer is low, I asked one of them, how much do you get paid then? He couldn’t reply to me, I don’t like empty talk.
