Free Model Sites

I came across a post by MisterTitanic, and it got me thinking, it’s surprising that there’s never been a post about free model websites. So, I decided to create one featuring some of the high-quality free models I usually use in my games. If I’ve missed any great sources, feel free to drop links to them below!

  • Poly Haven - my top pick

  • Free Pik - my top 3, good quality, easy to navigate

  • Threedio - used to use this a lot, not sure if an account is required anymore

  • Sketch Fab - pretty common one, requires account, has paid models on there as well

  • CG Trader - decent free models, requires account, has paid models on there as well

  • Turbo Squid - decent free models, requires account, has paid models on there as well

  • Fab - another favorite, partnered with unity, requires account, also has paid models

  • Free 3D - least favorite site, requires account, has paid models on there as well

  • NASA - Any space enthusiasts here? These models are from NASA, showcasing what they’ve observed in space, all free

  • 3D Export - good quality + has low poly, requires account

  • Grab Cad - good quality, a little confusing to navigate, don’t believe it requires an account anymore?

Disclaimer: For some of these websites, you’ll need to adjust the settings to find the free models. Try sorting the price from lowest to highest, or look for a ‘free’ filter button. Many of these sites also allow you to filter by specific file types (e.g., .obj).

Happy developing! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey i was wondering about Getting Copyright Or DMCA for Using models from these websites. Does it get Our game DMCA ?

Great question! According to the Poly Haven website (only referring to Poly Haven as other resources can be different), all their assets are released under the CC0 license, which means they’re effectively in the public domain. Meaning you can use them for anything (commercial, game, resale, remodel, etc). No credit is needed either.

Because these assets are public domain, no one owns the copyright, so they can’t legally DMCA you for using them. If someone does try to file a DMCA, it would be invalid / fraudulent, and you’d be within your rights to file a counter-notice.

not legal advice, I just read the license

ooh i see , what about sketch fab ? i think it is the Best website for 3d Models.
also sorry for late responds , i didnt thought you would be still checking The forums. Glad to see that you are still active in here.

That depends on the publisher, if you click a model it will usually be in the description.

i see , Thanks for this Information. But some models Didnt Even have those Description.
