Percentage Calculator Plugin

:link: Check out the Percentage Calculator Plugin here!

Description:
The Percentage Calculator Plugin is simple plugin for quick and accurate percentage calculations directly within Studio. Whether you’re adjusting object properties, balancing game mechanics, or handling complex data inputs, this tool has quite a lot of uses.

How is this different from other % calculators?

  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Multiple calculators and a search bar

It features calculators for:

  • X Percent of Y: Find percentages of values.
  • X as a Percentage of Y: Determine proportions.
  • Percent Change: Calculate value changes.
  • Adjust by Percent: Apply percentage increases/decreases.
  • Compound Interest: Compute growth over periods.

Looking for Your Suggestions!
I’m open to hear ideas on how to make this plugin more useful. If you have ideas for new types of percentage calculations or features, please share them!

If you decide to use the plugin, let me know if there is anything I should add.

Now, why would I use this over the other ‘%’ calculators? Everyone says ‘Easy-to-use interface’ so that is just eliminated.

First, how would a search bar be helpful in a calculator?

Second, what are you classifying ‘multiple calculators’? This just sounds like clickbait.

First, how would a search bar be helpful in a calculator?

It lets you pick… the different kind of percentage calculator. Have you even checked out the plugin page? There are percentage calculators to figure out percentage change, interest (or % gain over time), or just simple X% of Y calculations.

Second, what are you classifying ‘multiple calculators’? This just sounds like clickbait.

These:

  • X Percent of Y: Find percentages of values
  • X as a Percentage of Y: Determine proportions
  • Percent Change: Calculate value changes
  • Adjust by Percent: Apply percentage increases/decreases
  • Compound Interest: Compute growth over periods

I have updated the page with a screenshot of the interface that lets you pick the calculator you want.

This just sounds like clickbait.

The plugin is literally free. Instead of accusing me of random things, go and check out what it does.

stop hating on the dude, bro just wanted to make a calculator and there’s nothing wrong with that :sob:

btw very satisfying ui, would suggest you add some more whitespace (feels cluttered).

No hate intended, just confused because of the initial post.

My good friend @Symance recommended this to me after I struggled calculating how much he should be getting paid out for his contributions to our development team, RoR.

Great resource.

Thank you for this resource. I have been recommended it by @Symance in order to calculate his loan with compounding interest. It seems that he owes me a fortune.

Symance has referred this to me and it has changed my life. As an individual who suffers from severe arithmophobia, this plugin has made development a lot more accessible for me. I now am able to create the things that I need to make without having night terrors thanks to this plugin and its accessible UI.

Or if I want to find 25% of 200, I can just do 200 * 0.25 (or alternatively 200 * [25 / 100]). Crazy, and it can be done on a normal calculator.

You’re right, this is so true. I spent 10000 dollars on my windows 11 default calculator app because I’m so rich :pensive:

:fire: Thanks for your very constructive comment!

I’m genuinely confused, what did I do to earn these comments?

My plugin is free, I’m not charging any money for it. It’s a simple tool with some cool functionality like calculating a % increase of a number, for example if you’re balancing a game. What’s the issue? It simplifies workflows, and half of its functionality isn’t even available in standard calculators unless you already know the formulas.

If you don’t like it then ignore my post and move on please :sob:

This is a bad way of taking feedback. If you’re looking for only positive feedback, you’re in the wrong place.

The purpose of plugins should be to enrich or provide new functionality to Studio. Just because it’s free and not necessarily harming anybody, it doesn’t change the fact that the plugin has no real use case.

It doesn’t simplify anything, and there is no special formula to calculate a percent. It takes as much or more time to use your plugin versus a normal calculator, while also taking more space on the plugin toolbar.

Generally, if you have multiple comments pointing out problems, it’s your job to receive them, not block them. That’s how feedback works.

It’s not about the feedback being negative - it’s the sarcastic “Crazy, what a useless plugin” tone. Constructive feedback is welcome, but comments like that don’t help.

It’s not just simple X of Y calculations. Most people don’t remember ((newValue - oldValue) / oldValue) * 100, let alone do it in their head. My plugin streamlines this within studio - no need to switch apps. For example: adjusting RPG prices. You want to increase a sword’s price by 30%. Open the plugin, input the numbers, and paste the result directly. It saves time.

Constructive criticism is valuable to me but dismissive or sarcastic comments aren’t. Feedback works both ways: if you provide it respectfully, it’ll be taken seriously.

bro wdym this is like 6th grade math

i do think it’s cool you made one, any project is a good project. but that doesn’t mean it’s useful, or useful enough at least.
maybe add some more features than just some percentage calculator. features that a regular calculator can do, plus some very useful others. for example vector math could be one as it’s pretty prevalent in studio i guess.

make it unique compared to your other competitors (e.g., simple built-in windows calculator)
