Hi Creators,
We’re excited to announce the full release of the Universal Importer, which brings support for image, audio, and video files to the Import Queue. Since the Beta release, we’ve given the Importer a refreshed design, fixed some bugs, and made a few quality of life improvements.
How to use the Universal Importer
You can access the Universal Importer through any of the same ways you accessed the 3D Import Queue. In addition, the revamped Asset Manager’s import button now routes to the Import Queue.
- The Import button in the Studio Ribbon
File > Importmenu option- Cmd-M (Mac) / Ctrl-M (Windows)
- The Import button in the revamped Asset Manager
See our documentation here.
Improvements from Beta
We’ve refreshed the Import Queue to be aligned with Studio’s global design system.

After
Based on your feedback, we also added two contextual menu options to make it easy to find inserted models in the workspace and access the asset id of imported assets:
- The Right Click > Find in Workspace option focuses the current selection on the inserted asset. This only applies to models because image, audio, and video assets currently are not inserted into the workspace on import.

-
The Right Click > Copy AssetId option copies the uploaded asset id to your clipboard. For models, this copies the asset id of the uploaded model.
What’s next
We plan for the Universal Importer to fully replace the legacy Bulk Importer. The legacy Bulk Importer is still accessible through the legacy Asset Manager, but will be fully phased out when the revamped Asset Manager is released to GA in the coming months.
If you have any feedback or feature requests for the Importer, please share your feedback below.
