Already it’s starting to look all the more realistic, the shadow mapping really looks great.

it isn’t liking something with this orientation: -30,0,0 size: 1,1,1

Only problem I see right now is BasePart.CastShadow doesn’t respect textures with an alpha.

Example:

I use textures that say things like “Clip” to detail where boundaries, triggers, kill barriers, etc. are located. Hopefully this’ll be a bug that’s patched. :slight_smile:

all the possibilities with this new feature, and nobody is talking about how this could be used to recreate the stencil shaders from the early days of roblox

Can’t you disable shadows on them?

The part, yes.

And the shadows are disabled on those parts.

However, the textures still have shadows.

I completely missed that you mentioned disabling CastShadow…

The ShadowMap lighting is available as an option under Lighting.Technology in the regular Studio.

I love how ShadowMap looks but it seems to randomly make weird shadows sometimes on solid modelling objects for me

To emphasise what I wrote earlier:

Will particles & beams be able to cast shadows too in Phase 2?

It’d be nice to see smoke particles cast shadows:

Or clouds as beams to cast shadows on the earth:

Are there any plans for the Light Emission property to actually emit an editable range of light as well? Because that’d really be amazing for e.g thunder clouds or fire.

I really really love your images! That sky and those particles look really good! Is the terrain in the second image the regular Smooth Terrain with a different grass color?

Yes, it’s smooth terrain with a different colour but the lighting effects are probably influencing it as well.

Yeah the lighting is probably influencing it. I’m not the best at modifying lighting unfortunately :stuck_out_tongue:

I would sooo love to see particles able to emit shadows, that would open up a lot of opportunities.
