Try set it to an older version of Direct3D or just resort to default.
May also be a time to upgrade your PC if you want to use these new graphics changes unfortunately.
It looks exactly like shadowmap to me, anyone else encountered this problem?
It’s the same for outdoor/general ambient lighting as ShadowMap, the only difference is light instances are being given an update on how they show lighting. Examples:
Shadowmap
Future
Prebaked would work nicely for this.
so is the shadow map not included with this like the shadows you see in shadow-map or are they combined?
They seem to be combined. All the results look as if they have good shadows. When I ran my own tests, this new lighting system had better shadows.
Remember that this is still in Beta, it’s possible they’ll be adding more to it of course
This looks so amazing and I really can’t wait to see the full final finish. Few comments:
- TextLabels on surfaceguis are all black font no matter what you set the TextColor3 to. (Should be white)
- There are a few cases where if you leave an area and return to it, the lighting will be messed up.
But aside from these two minor bugs (which are understandable as this is still Beta for a reason), the shadows look amazing and again, I can’t wait to see how we can evolve from here. You guys did an amazing job!
Try changing Graphics Mode to : DX11 / Vulkan / Metal
I can verify that, that was not the issue. I just redone the lighting an it works correctly.
Thanks.
I set my graphic to both Vulkan and Metal won’t for me. My studio is also not supporting DirectX11 which I don’t have on my computer.
both of those will be addressed soon, i’ll make update to original post when code lands
I’ve been waiting for this for a while, now it’s here!
It’s available for all versions of studio. Just switch lighting technology to “Future”.
People seemed to like my previous screenshots, so I thought I would show another example.
This game always has daytime, so it won’t get too crazy.

While the building itself isn’t top-notch, the lighting is definitely an improvement.
