FiB 3 isn’t supported fully if not at all on all hardware. Some have problems, some don’t have any problems, some even have Studio crash when enabling Future lighting technology.
Plus, FiB 3 is in the beta stage. So, its nowhere close to completion.
A little late on this, but this update is incredible for horror games! The only issues I found were the lighting not affecting terrain grass and spotlights and surface lights not working properly with shadows, which I’m sure both are already being worked on for the official release.
Sure it does take a hit, but I mean Phase 3 pretty much just came. There probably going to do a lot of optimizations on it, to make it smoother for everyone.
I didn’t realize until now, but it seems that AutoExposure isn’t in the Beta Update. Is there still a plan to add it into FiB v3 or will we see that in a later update?
I perfectly know that, but FiB 3 still seems quite slow.
After some time, I’ve decided that I may use Future lighting in a later update for my game (when Future is live), but I’m worried that devices that have Future disabled may see a completely different scene from what they would expect (lights being too bright, etc), so I’m still not very sure.
It would be cool if they made lights have the same brightness (or at least similar) in Future than on ShadowMap.
Same here - I currently work on creating theatrical rigs using Roblox and I’d rather have a mediocre scene which all devices can access using ShadowMap than having a beautiful scene using Future which the majority of players won’t see anyways as their graphics settings will be pretty low and thus, the scene that the majority of players will see will be exponentially poorer than if I were to use ShadowMap in the first place.
There needs to be better compatibility between ShadowMap and Future for me to consider using Future in my games.
Yes, but the FPS drop is not worth it in many scenes, it would be cool if they allowed developers to switch Technology using scripts.
And then there’s the issue where lights in ShadowMap are too dark for Future or vice-versa. If they patched that, and allowed scripts to change technology (or to at least know when is ShadowMap being used instead of Future due to low graphics mode), Future would seem like a more attractive alternative.
Yep!! Thanks! Unfortunately it’s still under development, however you can check out our daily dev related tweets here: https://twitter.com/Nightcycle_LLC
