Surface lights won’t emit shadows for now. They said that in the announcement.

we’ve also decided to re-add surface lights shadows though they aren’t technically correct but better than nothing.
Seems like the glass material always shows shines with Future enabled no matter what transparency it is which really messes up some glass transparency tricks in my game :
Future, 0.999 transparency :
ShadowMap, 0.999 transparency :
this should only be true when there’s local lights. if there’s only sun it should be the same

I think I have an idea on how to solve the “invis light specular highlights visible” problem.
The Simple Solution.
Easy, add an option to disable specular highlights.
Another Solution.
A new light, called ‘AmbientLight’. It will cast no shadows or specular highlights, but can still be attached to a part and cast light in any shape or form, including the old Voxel (fib 1) lights, but also still have the new, refined fib 3 lights.

@vrtblox re-added surface light shadows, but where are they?
Not sure where else I can put this, but within the past update or so, atmospheric glare no longer seems to be working at all on increasing the glare of objects, in-game or in Studio.
That’s not what ‘glare’ does in atmosphere…
Glare is just the color of the atmosphere near the sun.
It does (or did) before when you enabled EnvironmentalSpecularScale.
Seems like rope/rod constraints still use the old lighting system which makes them glow in the dark :

The range only effects how far your camera should be to see them move.
Heres my settings in the lights
Range:8
Brightness:3
Colour: 186, 135, 7
Shadows: On
I wonder when the next batch of updates will come it’s been almost 3 months. Besides bug fixes I hope there’s a bunch of more optimizations to improve performance drastically. But hey the longer it takes the better ill be!
