I dunno. Maybe send the e-mail again?
I see what you’re saying, but to me it doesn’t seem to be an unnatural drop.
Unless you’re a very large developer, or have tons of funds, your games will eventually die.
Look at 1/20/2022 for example. It’s getting around 8.8K visits that day. Now look at 1/21/22, it goes down to 5.3K visits that day. It’s not necessarily a slow decline, but it isn’t a major drop either.
I’d be thankful you had a successful game, take the funds you earned from it, and make another game. These things happen on Roblox and some things can’t be helped.
However, a game’s description has key words and that’s why you see people who put tags in the bottom of theirs (for instance, some games have a bunch of random words at the end of their description to trick the algorithm and get better search results.
I haven’t yet had a successful game myself, so I can’t be sure, but that may be why some games never change their description (like Arsenal for instance).
Thanks for your input I really appreciate it, however further research has shown that my game is in no sorts or search results. It used to be almost everywhere, so indeed changing the description did somehow get me removed from search results.
You’ve most definitely made a chunk of money off the game, so I’d take it as a win and move on; wherever that may be.
Right. That’s why I believe it may have had to do with your description change. Changing it could have reset the search results for your game. Like I said before, I’m not certain, but that may be why games like Arsenal never change their description (so their game comes first and they have the best search results).
Anyways, I do believe you have your solution.
Congratulations on actually having a successful game. That’s hard to do nowadays.
Good luck on your next project. Also, in todays era, Roblox Obbies are dying. I recommend you go with a new genre.
Shouldn’t work like that though to be honest because this is very important to me and I am quite passionate about it.
Thank you for your congratulations, I appreciate it!
We are moving on to a different genre but I am not giving up on my game either.
About the advertising, maybe try 10k over 2 days? (saturday and sunday) - that being said I haven’t advertised before so maybe that wouldn’t work
Update. I messed around with the description and title and my game is popping back up on searches that are pretty high.
I wonder if now would be a good time to do advertising with the 20k i’d like to try.
No worries.
You don’t have to give up on it, but if you continue spending anymore time (or funds) on it, stay cautioned that you may be wasting your time with it. The genre has, itself, been declining over the years.
I don’t think spending the funds are wise, however, that is completely your choice.
Oh, good!
So it seems I was right with the search results.
If it’s popping up now, I don’t think spending funds is too necessary, however, you may get a bunch of players by doing so. Give it a try if you want.
I think i’ll give it a try, just not sure if to do 5k a day for 4 days, 10k for 2 days or 20k to get a big boost one day.
Seeing as your game is popping off now, I’d try 20K in one go.
Normally, you should spread it out, but because 5K is so little, it won’t do anything that low.
So, using the information here on this thread I experimented a bit with changing my description a couple times and searching for my game to see if it would pop back up and it did work.
I think the tags in my description was the reasoning for my game getting “shadow banned”
Not sure if that’s the official term but it’s basically when your game never pops up in any search results.
Experimenting with the description of your game can get it back on track.
Hello, is there any ironclad way to make sure that your roblox game won’t get shadow banned? This seems quite serious and damaging to a game, so I want to make sure it won’t happen.
Is shadow-ban a thing in Roblox? (It shows up in Search still though if you search for the name of it and it also gets chosen for Featured thanks to God)
Cuz my game experienced a boost from March 14 to April 16. After April 16 the visits started declining out of nowhere for me and a friend of mine, though mine died quicker than his. The game is a survival game and there is a bunch of things you can do in survival games.
Hey, my game was doing pretty well with 10+ players. Upon searching for the “Prison Life” keyword, you would find my game high up at the 3rd row. But now it’s at 0-3 players only getting traffic from my other games redirecting players. The reason? After a week of being published, the game got kicked back to the 15th row or something like that. Basically unsearchable. I’m wondering if you have any information or if it got “shadow banned”. Really weird because games that performed terribly are higher up than mine, and you have to scroll down many irrelevant games before seeing Prison Life 5 (my game).
If you can find it when you search, it’s not shadow banned.
From my knowledge the Roblox algorithm is a very confusing thing…
Only thing I can really tell you/give you advice on is try improving analytics to reach benchmarks.
Average playtime, monetization, retention… etcera.
