As a Roblox developer, it’s currently too hard to create immersive environments where shadows play a big role. It can also create a disparity in fairness due to some players being able to see objects others cannot.

A bear trap hidden in the shadows cannot be seen when playing on higher shadow render distance, thereby requiring a flashlight to observe that there is something they have to avoid:
In contrast, a player playing on the minimum graphics level, or a graphics level with low shadow render distance will be able to see the bear trap without the flashlight:
A player with lower shadow render distance is able to make out the ends of the hallway, while the player with the higher shadow render distance cannot. This can prove to decrease immersivness, ass seeing the end of the hallway increases predictability. Games that rely on being unpredictable, such as horror games, will thereby have less predictability which consequently makes the game much less frightening:
If Roblox were to address this issue, it would improve the development experience as many developers are able to have more fine control over the immersiveness of their games.
