Grayscale/saturation image effect

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to achieve a stylistic effects on images without the burden of uploading several versions of a given asset.

With monochrome icons, a grayscale effect can be partially achieved by turning the image color to black, and then setting the image transparency. However, this is not ideal for multi-colored images since the value component is lost.

Along with generally making images much more versatile, there are plenty of use cases for a feature like this

  • An ‘unlocking’ effect for a tech tree or achievement menu
  • A damage/injury effect
  • Drop shadows/silhouettes for icons (with accurate transparency)

Optimal implementation would be a saturation slider, but a grayscale checkbox would also be welcome.

Thanks!

This would be a good thing coming as you have to go out of your way to edit that image yourself in editing software for those effects. The so called image effects would be a step up and a game changer.

I think the colorcorrection service should also apply to decals and surfaceGui frames and images; not just lighting and camera
