Roughly a month ago, I attempted to transfer ownership of my group (4753570) to one of my other accounts. The transfer seems to have “glitched”, and the group displays itself as having a owner on the header while there is no account assigned to the 255 (Owner) roleset. This has resulted in myself not being able to exercise any of the privileges associated with owning the group.
I do not have access to the audit logs and therefore cannot provide an image of “behind of the scenes”.
I am on the latest version of Google Chrome.
Expected behavior
The owner of the group should be assigned to the Owner roleset (255), as without it: persons are unable to exercise any of the privileges associated with owning a specific group.
I attempted to force a group owner change using the groups.roblox.com API’s V1 change-owner in the hopes that it would “reset” and assign the account to the owner roleset – it did not.
It seems that the group itself is bugged. Is anybody else having a similar issue?
The API throws a code 500 when I attempt to leave the group on the owner account.
I experienced a similar bug as the OP. After creating a group, I encountered an “Unknown Error”, and the group name was afterwards shown as “taken” & "group itself “locked”. Consequently, I was not able to use any administrative privileges with owning the group.
I have the same problem mentioned in this bug report and it’s extremely frustrating. I’m unable to post on the Bug Reports subforum and Roblox Support is incapable of even basic reading comprehension so I’m essentially in a state of glitched group limbo. Did you ever end up getting this fixed?
Nope, not even close. Been getting the same copy paste “we’re working on it” message from support since August.
We sincerely understand your desire to see this issue resolved, and we want to reassure you that our engineers are fully aware of and working to fix this issue as quickly as possible, while being sure to avoid any unintended issues as the fix is released.
I’m getting close to just making a new group completely.
Hello @Machlachlane I’m sorry for the delay. Your group should be fixed. Are you able to confirm that the user displayed as the new group owner has the ability to manage the group? Thank you!
Hey @Im_gameon, thank you for helping me with this bug. I have indeed been promoted to Group Owner, but I still lack the ability to edit the group in any manner (see attached screenshot)
Update: I was able to discover a workaround to configure my group by using the link that should appear (i.e. https://www.roblox.com/groups/configure?id=GROUPID#!/information). That being said, I am unable to create roles, rank members, or edit any advanced group settings.
I created a group called Rising Wind Community, and It did not give me the owner role. As a matter of fact the owner role is completely missing, and it set me as a member of my own group.
I can’t seem to access social links. Not sure if it’s related but is there any way to have this fixed? My account is 13+ and verified.
Edit: I am also unable to change my group’s name. Due “Group ownership was changed too recently”, can this be corrected? I planned on changing the name back in August when this issue first presented itself.
Hello @jackjenningsdev, can you provide me a link to the Group, describe the issue, and who the expected owner should be so I can investigate your case? Thank you!
