Hello! I’ve been wanting to make a story game but I need to know how to do this with rich text, I understand how to easily make typewriter but noobs really like that up and down “tween” movement with text. This is a video of it in action Vimeo .
I’ve been working on this a while but I can’t find anything in the dev forum that is really useful and works well with this tween up and down motion.
Unless the rich text page is outdated, I don’t think this was done with RichText.
I’m pretty sure the only way to do this is a custom text system:
Each character is an ImageLabel or TextLabel. Pretty straight forward.
Have a few TextLabels representing each possible offset. Using a monospaced font, hide characters with spaces. Only show a character on a single layer.
If you send the game link I can taker a closer look (video is limited by FPS).
Edit: @BMWLux
Thanks for the link. I can’t tell for sure how they did it. I was wondering if it was updating at a rate noticeably lower than the in game FPS, which would probably mean the second method, but I can’t tell. I don’t think that font it monospaced either, so I guess each letter is probably it’s own Instance, though I’m not sure.
Ah… I see! Yes i dont know how the game could handle all that so smoothly but here is the game link, the games eh for how many visits it has lol [🎃] Pet Story 🐶 - Roblox
