I’m sorry if this is the wrong category to be posting this in, but I couldn’t find any category that would suit this better and that I had access to.
Does anyone have any idea how much the cost for a good and functional smooth FPS gun system would be?
Here are the core details it’d include:
Core fundamental systems (holding gun, aiming, shooting, running, reloading, crouching leaning, jumping)
Support for secondary weapons (pistols)
Melee support
Ability to lean towards left and right
Recoil and spark FX
(maybe?) Support for wielding a shield
I’m considering hiring someone to make a FPS system for my group’s upcoming game, as I am quite busy and unable to do such a complex system at the moment due to the amount of work that needs to be done besides this.
I’d cover all the animations and gun models.
How much would you price a good FPS system of this kind at?
Well, soon as you have the models + animations covered… I think a good scripter could be looking for 60k-80k+. That’s a personal opinion, some could ask for less, some could ask for more it really depends if this is what they’re specialized in.
Adding to what @owedkarma said, really it is personal. I read a different topic similar to this a month ago, and you can’t really give a price. Really depends on the scripter. You won’t know 'till you post a topic in #collaboration
Depending on the quality I would say you could working system with everything you want for maybe 20-40k, however an unfautable perfect system maybe 500,000-1,000,000. It depends entirely on your definition of ‘good’, however I would probs go for around about 100k.
Thanks for the mention Cinema!
I’m actually developing an FPS system atm, maybe you’d be interested in contacting me on Discord @MetatableIndex

Everything you’ve listed is doable for even the lower ‘tiers’ of scripters. Personally, I think a system that is customisable and easy to use whilst being very good should help you assess how much it would cost. I have seen people charging over 750k for a gun system.
If you’re on a budget, I’d say explore free options that you edit yourself. They’re usually just as good once improved upon.
