How to build good trains?

So basically, I’ve played games like Stepford County Railway, Grand Continental Railways and Terminal Railways before. And I always wonder how they make good trains.

I have experience with Blender and a bit of CSG and I 've made trains before but they ended up terrible. If you want to see the very first trains, I’ve made refer to this post

Feedback on my models.

Looking at them now and other people’s trains they look kind of trashy. I wanted to test out CSG methods into making trains and I want to stick to that but when I do try to make the train it ends up bad as well. So, I end up deleting the train and having to restart it, stressing me out even more.

Are there any good tips I can use to make trains with the use of CSG or blender? Because I’m already stressed on making trains now.

Thanks for reading

I think adding more contrast helps, do some experimenting with bevels, extrudes and materials to do so

I would suggest you improve your general modeling first then start making super detailed trains. To make your trains better you will need more expirience and make sure you get as many reference images of a train as posible and then model it.
