How To Import MESH Files to Roblox Studio?

  • What are you attempting to achieve?
I want to import mesh files into roblox studio which i can use for character meshes so i can remove those beveled edges on character limbs

  • What is the issue?
roblox studio does not want to import MESH Files so i have to convert them to either .obj or .fbx. If u are trying to tell me to use blender i wont. I got these meshes from a bloxstrap mod on gamebanana (2006/2007 Avatar Bundle mod)

  • What solutions have you tried so far?
I tried converting them but the converters i tried just gave me errors (online converters). On another forum i found a model which has a dummy with character meshes which removes the bevels but when i used them there seem to be white lines appearing accross the limbs, the dummy does not have the white lines though and you cannot see them in studio editing just playtest.

The dummy

I have no clue if these files are corrupt so thats why i couldnt convert them

You can’t.

Simple as that.

Roblox does not support .mesh files for uploading, it does support them as local files but not as assets.

: ( so i have to make my own? Do you know a fix to remove these white lines that appear on characters using character meshes from someone else?

Or converting them using some 3d software.

You can send me one of the .mesh files. I also don’t understand, white lines? What do you mean by this?

When i use someone else’s model which is a dummy with character meshes, it does remove the bevels and support clothing and bodycolors but theres white lines appearing accross the limbs and weird shadows. Look at the screenshot in the post

Well how do i send them to u? it does not allow me to upload the mesh files here

You can use google drive or media fire and such hosting services.

i now just used google drive

mediafire

After a lot of attempts, it doesn’t seem to work.

Although I did find a community tutorial. You can view it here and try it yourself:

I got these uploaded as .mesh

Left Arm : 120251887725262
Left Leg : 121410334893851

Let me know if it helps.

This works but these weird things are still appearing, the weird shadows and white lines. Also an npc with the vip shirt graphic as a decal looks looks distorted (the decal shirt not the npc).

Maybe a problem because of the lighting. Im testing that tomorrow bc i dont have time

Pretty sure it’s roblox engine bug or blame the files (could be old .mesh format) cause i directly uploaded them to roblox as .mesh format.

Well the bloxstrap mod does make characters on ur client look blocky and nostalgic but it does not have any white lines or weird shadows when i use it. Also the white lines and weird shadows does not appear in studio, playtest only.

That likely LOD version of character.
That heppens sometimes, try reinstalling roblox client.
