I have absoloutely no idea what category this belongs in, so please correct me. Anyways, the title says it all. I cannot seem to get a 520 x 520 screenshot for a thumbnail, and when i try to add a thumbnail, the thumbnail after is always half the picture, and half white and uncovered.
How can I take a 520 x 520 screenshot?

I really wonder why you are using a 520x520 thumbnail, when it doesn’t really work as a thumbnail. Did you actually mean icon?

There’s an even better way to take high-resolution screenshots in studio. You can even go to 4k (and beyond!)
Turn on the emulator. It’s the phone icon on the top-right of the viewport.

In the device dropdown, click “Manage Devices”. Then, add an entry for 4K resolution.

Select then new entry in the device dropdown. In the scaling dropdown, click “Actual Resolution” (Warning: if your computer is low-spec, this will lag your viewport.)
