Idea: Development Company; Please do not snag the idea

This has been done many times, so don’t worry about your idea being snagged. I co-founded a venture like this a while back, it was a organization called “Rolancer.” My only advice is to please organize your sales and who is working on what. These things can get out of hand really quickly, I know from experience.

The copyright law does not protect ideas, meaning you cannot copyright someone for using your idea, period. Developers are allowed to use your idea without prior consent. If I am wrong about this, please correct me.

While I am not able to provide sources (I don’t keep track of these groups) I have found similar “contracting” development groups on Roblox, so this is not unique. Your problem would be getting developers to join and stay. Why would they develop for your group and lose out on 2 percent, when they can just gather a team from recruitment and portfolios?

I like the idea of “Fiverr” for development needs. The more important question is–who is still alive that provides these services?

This already exists for many top games; ROLVe, for example, is a team of devs that specifically do certain tasks based on the DevRolve assigns.

Groups like this already exist and you do not own this idea

Has been done before, just that they did not get as much attention.
Copyrighting this thing is a meme.

A lot of people above. e. e e e e e e e

So basically the idea is that the group act as a full-team paid as commissioners/freelancers? Not unique but it will be interesting to see in Roblox.

Like everyone else said; this has already been done, it occasionally works out - but you need to get a team going to even get this process started. So there you go. People do this already; the only way for you to really beat the competition is to find clients, post your teams work, and offer the best customer service on the platform.

I would totally join! Seems like an interesting idea!

As a developer, this is kind of the inverse of what I would seek to do. When I’m looking for major developers, I want to secure people who will stick with the project. When I’m looking for commisions, it’s typically cheaper and quicker to seek out individuals who have personalized their artistic styles.

This has been attempted before and it never ends very well because it lacks a unified development project and thus no loyalty to their creations.

You can’t really “patent” an idea for a development company. That’s identical to claiming the idea of arranging a bunch of sounds into a “song”. (I have no intentions of stealing your idea)

Anyhow, great idea. While has this has definitely been done on the platform before, none have been executed correctly or to my liking and have collapsed due to poor management (I suspect).

Sounds like something I would join if it’s appealing enough.

I don’t think you can copyright an idea, nor a ROBLOX group. Correct me below if I’m wrong.

Bruh you know no one’s gonna give you robux right? Ig you need robux you gotta make a game first or sell roblox outfits

Additionally, as others have stated there are groups / companies like these that already exist, for example https://melon.dev/

This seems like a pretty cool idea! I couldnt’ join myself though, because I’m currently making my own game.

This is not something new (just like the other 40 replies have said) infact I’ve worked in a dev group like this, it’s hard to get trustworthy people since signing a contract requires you to be an adult. Most of the time our assets would get stolen and then sold at a higher price.

What you’re describing is a corporation. While this might work, capital is a big barrier of entry for most roblox devs - personally, i doubt people will approach the corp with the money needed to properly fund a project, unless all your devs are in countries with pretty low wages.

Working for “% of revenue” is generally not favourable.
