Because it carries over most of the advantages that allowing it for GUIs does.
I support this for sure.
Yes.
Nuff’ said.
Would be great for textures as well; make good textures water that looks like it moves.
This pretty much takes away the use for decals anyway, and especially this feature doesn’t seem worth updating after these things will come out.

[/quote]SurfaceGUIs will be great, but it will not always be better to use them over Decals. Decals/textures still serve a completely practical use, and it would be nice to spruce them up a bit.

Not to mention that surfaceguis are probably going to be very expensive.

Expensive? How so?
More instances to work with means heavier rendering.

takes up more processing power. The new materials already heat up my computer by ~10 C, and will do more by abusing this.
If you’re going to be a heavy user of ImageRect on surfaces having the property on Decals would appear to be more favorable.
But who knows? SurfaceGUIs do open up a window to new possibilities that may render things people use Decals for obsolete…

some things, but not all.
Plus, guis don’t have image transparency yet
An update like this would help me in every aspect of building games.
While they are working on this, they might as well make a Z-Index for decals too!
This is still a feature that we don’t have and would be tremendously helpful. I’m currently having to use SurfaceGUIs for some things and they just don’t work well. SurfaceGUIs don’t go on meshes, they don’t have shadows cast on them(at least I don’t think), and they have some z-fighting issues. Having these properties for decals would solve these issues.
Yeah, it’d be super great for all image-type objects to be modernized and updated to be current with ImageLabels/Buttons.
Decals and Textures should have ImageRectOffset/Size as well as Color3
