This one especially is very confusing for kids, imagine a young child or someone with a visual impairment trying to play Roblox and this shows up. This system really needs some work.

I tried to get my friends to make a roblox account. They understand English, but to a minimal level, so we decided I will control their screen. It took me almost 1 and a half hours to make them a roblox account. It started by saying 5 questions, and when we got to 5, it suddenly turned to 10.

Roblox, please switch to reCaptcha, or maybe hCaptcha.

I am trying to join a group on a new alt and I am just refreshing until I have a new captcha that doesnt want me to select the new animal walking backwards. Please fix this

I legit get that one EVERY TIME! Evne when buying Robux. It’s like roblox dosent want money + users!

The captcha is linked to your IP and maybe (not sure) cookies. Refreshing won’t solve anything sadly.

I waited 30 minutes and it let me in.

Yeah this happens to me too, but very rarely. I only get the super long and impossible captchas if I get my password wrong once or twice, other than that it’s fine.

Welcome to another new episode of Roblox Captcha which blocks humans instead of bots.

Roblox, your newest Captcha “Pick the animal which is moving backwards” is impossible.
I’m locked of out my account, because I keep getting this Captcha on all my devices. I already tried various IPs, same issue.

Fix your stuff, I can’t access Roblox now which as result that I can’t work on my game today.

Weirdly enough when I log in Google chrome on roblox on my main account I don’t get the captcha.

Also if you sign up via chrome it will make you do the captcha

If I use Microsoft Edge or Internet explorer or any other browser it asks me to login via captcha.

Funny enough I haven’t seen the captcha since honestly months and possibly a year, it logs me in immediately.

You can buy robux in-game too though. (When I tried bypassing the captcha I changed to microsoft edge and I got past it in under 5 minutes.)

i had my eyes taken out aND FIXED and put back in i cant see 3d and this capta with the gifs jsut makes me wanna quit roblox.

I know that there are already almost 400 replies to this, but I want to add in my own opinion.

Out of curiosity, why was FunCaptcha chosen in the first place?

I’ve honestly never had anything other than issues with these. I personally tend to get the animal rolling ones the most, and to be quite honest, they aren’t clear enough for me. What always ends up happening is one will appear straight in two positions, forcing me to guess. 99% of the time I get this guess wrong and I have to start all over again. And to top it all, it keeps on adding more of them each time you fail, making it even harder.
(Apparently, some people above this post have been getting up to 25 of these, that’s a lot!).

Looking at the math problems, I feel like kids specifically might have trouble with these especially considering that they are quite fast and the younger ones may not have fully mastered that type of math yet. Plus, who wants to be doing math to get into their Roblox account, regardless of if they’re able to do it or not?

I think that there are quite a few alternatives to the FunCaptchas that are a little easier and are more widely used. If I had to suggest one though, I’d have to go with hCaptcha or ReCaptcha. My reasoning for ReCaptcha is because you usually don’t have to complete a captcha at all (though this comes at the cost of more data collection), and when you do it’s quick and easy. I also recommended hCaptcha. While you usually have to complete a captcha for these, they don’t collect as much data as the ReCaptcha ones and the captchas are still very quick.

If you made it all the way to the end, I hope that you see this post as constructive and not just trashing the captchas. I also hope that some of my recommendations are taken into consideration. Captchas are definitely necessary, I just think that they shouldn’t be frustrating or blocking anyone from doing what they need to do!

Reason for posting this reply
I feel like this captcha (Image 1) is impossible. At first, it wasn’t bad, until I failed and notice the tip (Image 2). I asked around within some ROBLOX Community Servers to see if anyone else has the encounter(ed) and/or completed this captcha (referring to Image 1). Not many replies, but most said it impossible.* I made it my mission to see if it is even possible, I study each image to see which one is “walking backward” as stated in instructions (Image 1). When I was doing this method it switches from 5 questions (or task) to 20 questions (or task) as seen in the labeled “image 3.” I feel like ROBLOX is trying to solve the botting problem, but in reality, they make it almost impossible.

*= proof will not be shown, because it is offsite.

The Issue
ROBLOX advertises itself as a platform for “ages 4+” as seen in Image 4. This means these “fun” captchas should able to (be) complete(d) by 4 years old. You could argue most kids can’t do the math, but I went over that in `Reply to “Quote 1.” Getting back on topic, these captchas should be labeled as “child-friendly” and/or “family-friendly.” This means they safe for view for their (or targeted) age group, but also should mean that the age group should be able to understand what the image or task is about.

Reason for “Fun” captcha(s)
It is not a secret that ROBLOX struggle with botting, which is causing a sense of false data for some developers. Before I carry away, what is “Botting?” Botting is the term used when a mass amount of accounts (on any platform) are created or used for a specific or action. Most botting that happens on ROBLOX is posting messages to scam websites on group walls, in-game chat, or ROBLOX messages. Some other forms of botting that occur on ROBLOX are (dis)likes, favorites, visit a game, join a group, follow/friend a user, and clothing spam on the ROBLOX catalog. Getting back on topic, since you now know what “botting” is. ROBLOX wants to stop botting within ROBLOX. So, they put these captcha(s) in place to stop botting.

Are these “Fun” captcha(s) effective?
Do I know if it (Referring to captcha(s)) is/are effective? Unfortunately, no. I have found no data that can prove that these captchas did contribute(d) to help end and/or prevent botting. So, what happens if these captchas actually worked and it helps stop botting within ROBLOX? As a programmer (A scripter) within ROBLOX, I scripted a multiple anti-exploits/cheat system before, and there is never such a thing as a perfect anti-cheat/exploit system. You may be asking, why is there never a perfect anti-cheat/exploit system? If you develop a system to detect cheats/exploits, which means you need to a script to if this happens, then to do that. (Also incorporate into your game and prevent false positives, etc.) That means if someone finds a new method to bypass or skip over, you need to patch it. This occurs the exploiter won’t report it, they just use it more to exploit. The best anti-cheat/exploit system is actually the Human Brain, cause of how complex and how it process.

Is there a better solution to prevent botting?
Some ideas you may say and why it won’t work. Of course, there may be more ideas, but these are ones that I have thought of.

Add a(n) account creation cooldown

Adding a cooldown per IP (or Mac address) per new account creation will help. If the user doesn’t reset their IP address or use a VPN.

Restrict account to certain actions for x days

If ROBLOX incorporates this method into their platform it will prevent ROBLOX players and users to like, favorite, join groups, etc. We all know how people do with waiting as seen on previous ROBLOX updates. (Hence ROBLOX Group Fund Review)

Detection Method

If someone says a link to a site, the account is muted. While ROBLOX chat filtering isn’t the most accurate, yes it is the job done but it will increase the spike of false moderation actions. If ROBLOX YouTubers are made aware of this issue of false moderation, they will make a video about it cause it labels “drama” or t/tea (some people call it). ROBLOX Moderation and support is already working hard enough during this crazy (referring to the pandemic), and watching the Devforum and ROBLOX itself with over 10 million daily users.*

*= No proof of this number.

Community Moderation

ROBLOX users can report the user who posted the link (or botted). Unfortunately, there are major flaws with that.

  1. If it happens within a game, the bot usually posts the link and leaves the server. It is hard to report the account cause you will need to find the use the player list (on the leaderboard or ROBLOX Main Game Menu), which hard because you have to be quick.

  2. Most ROBLOX users believe the ROBLOX Reports never get read or even noticed. There is no proof of this ever happening. There is probably a filtering system to detect if the report is empty or has no words within it. When I usually report a user to ROBLOX, it will a full paragraph explain everything that happens, before and during, and after. (Usually takes up the whole box) If we take account of how many daily players/user that use ROBLOX, and 1 in every x users/players report a user/player it will quickly add up, due to how big ROBLOX player count is. ROBLOX moderation isn’t a big team of like 1000 members, it is most likely around or under 100 employees within the ROBLOX Moderation team.*

  3. Most people don’t want to waste time over that.

*= No proof of this number.

Phone Verifications

This one is taken from a different platform for teens+. If ROBLOX is designed to be for “ages 4+” (Image 4), they most likely won’t have a phone due to how young they are. This will mean people won’t be able to use their services.

I feel like this captcha is even worse (referring to Image 1, Image 2, and Image 3), cause most kids can ask their parent/guardian for help on simple math problems or if they don’t want to math they simply use a calculator.

Reply to “Quote 2”
I can agree with your statement that that captcha is impossible.

Reply to “Quote 3”
I have been on enough time to understand ROBLOX creates their income not from advertising random companies, but Players buying ROBUX, and ROBLOX Premium (Previous known as ROBLOX (Outrageous/Turbo) Builder Club). Yes, they do host community events with companies like the “Ready Player Two” event, etc. So, for them to prevent you buy things from this company will cause money loss, unfortunately, it did not happen in your class due to how gift cards work.

I don’t know if this is a fix or not, but I actually tried logging in 2-3 time in an incognito tab, where I was prompted impossible captchas for the first few times. I managed to solve all those flawlessly.

So when I log in in an incognito tab now I don’t get prompted captcha! Can someone try this out and tell?

And yes, it was a completely new device.

A new captcha with darts is impossible because most of the time the darts don’t add up to the number, and even if they add up, other captchas won’t add up. I tried it with both incognito mode and VPN

It is possible. You just did not look hard enough.

VPNs are a red flag. Most VPNs have custom ISPs such as Digital Ocean, Express VPN, NordVPN etc. This can be found by doing a quick lookup with an IP before the computer even goes to the website.

I understand, but this isn’t a reason to make the captcha block humans.
People use VPNs for good and legal reasons as well, please remember that.
