The built in video recorder is currently bad in a lot of ways.
For its current and most often usage, It’s children without OBS or a similar recording program trying to become “YouTubers”. They often type into the ingame chat in order to talk to their viewers, but the chatbox stays the same size when recording videos which often makes it extremely difficult or impossible to read what the user recording the video is trying to say. Having a increased text size box with larger text and/or having large text appear on screen when using the ingame recorder.
The video recorder still records at low framerates.
The in-game recorder should also allow you stream Live Video to Youtube and/or Twitch and also record voice, as another solution to the problem where users are using the ingame recorder and trying to talk to their viewers through a very small onscreen chatbox.
I personally think they should just remove it. Anyone can download free programs for video recording and roblox is a game platform, not a video streaming tool.
It’s a heavily used feature, and many roblox users watch YouTubers such as DanTDM and aspire to be YouTubers but either don’t know how to download free video creation programs or have parents that will ground them for downloading video recording programs because they think they are viruses (and they possibly can be if they are just looking up free video recorders on google).
The in-built recorder also outputs a low-quality file. There’s simply not enough customization.
Could it be possible for Roblox to advertise other software?
It’d be interesting if Roblox could sponsor OBS or something. Of course the links and stuff would come with a warning about an external service, etc. etc.
Maybe a tutorial on YouTube/other places could even be made on recording Roblox?
