Improving Trust & Safety in the Creator Marketplace

Not true. Even professionals sometimes use free models if they are high quality.

that is just plain wrong, there’s many instances where good developers use free models (predominantly for particles or sounds)

Ok, this sounds great but once again, how in the world am I supposed to verify without an id?!? I feel like too many features are locked behind this, I have less and less to use now with the talent hub using verification and now this to prove my models are safe? Any scanner out there can verify and get a virus approved.

I appreciate that I can use the toolbox, but I would like it more if I wasn’t locked outside of roblox because of verification.

Free models and decals/sounds taken from the toolbox are two very different things. You will not see experienced developers importing full models and/or scripts from the toolbox, whereas sounds are often taken, especially ones uploaded by Roblox themselves.

Incorrect. You may see a bit of imported free models in some large titles. It doesn’t depend on the size of thr game really, it’s on the creator. There’s nothing wrong with free models.

Where is this information from? I find this very hard to believe.

Roblox: keeps ages of users private
Also Roblox: We’ll show if you’re age-verified, you can’t decide not to!

Like why would people even verify their age then.

It’s because there are other games named this.
Do you mean yours is the original and it doesn’t even show up first? In that case, Roblox should make the first game with a certain name show up first. (e.g. a game called “Adopt Me” from 2017 and a game called “Adopt Me” from 2020. obviously the 2017 one is original so it should show first.)

My game is not really the original - it’s a fix of a classic game (which was sadly removed, because account of OG owner was breached).
Currently most active one from what I’ve seen.
It does appear when I use full name though…

Glad this feature was added, and I’m glad People Make Games made the new video because I’m sure this new feature was cooked up due to that video. Great update, and a good step up for ROBLOX.

Hopefully the future has more security and trust for developers looking to work on this site.

Spotting scripts in the update was a good thing but removing filters was a stupid idea, they may not have been the best but some people used them for certain searches.

This is ridiculous, sorting was a crucial feature. Without it, the toolbox feels severely restricted and much less useful.

I’ve always sorted audio searches by recently updated. But now that we can’t, I have to go through 5 pages of roblox audios named the same thing before I even get to the user uploaded ones.

At first I never had an issue with this but it’s low-key annoying. The marketplace should be fixed to stop people from botting stuff, removing the sort by feature is like putting a small piece of paper over a huge hole. You should make it so if a model randomly gets a bunch of sales it will be shadowbanned (you can’t see it) or make it so you can’t upload models using api’s or webhooks.

Edit: My grammar sucks but you get the point

Sorry if this is necro posting but I found a small problem, module scripts are not counted as scripts and and ignored with the popup. So people can just use a module script to run code instead. I don’t know if this was intentional but I worry for small developers, thank you.

Yeah, this update isn’t exactly as helpful as it should be.

Because for starters, now it’s easier to bump into stolen assets that were taken from people’s games.

Like, what’s the point in limiting the search results if it doesn’t really protect people anyway?

Because you can literality get permbanned from Roblox if you even have one of these stolen assets in your game, which is very concerning to me.

Not to mention that search filters were very important in deciding what’s useful or not, having more control on what we search for shouldn’t be something you remove in the first place.

Otherwise…this happens…

I’m really hoping something is done about this, because this is defiantly not what people want.

This is really cool and all but why did you have to remove filters? I noticed that the removal of filters came with the update that renamed the library to “Creator Marketplace.” This seems to be a very pointless change, and the only reason I could think that they would remove filters is because some higher-up “modernist” decided that they were too “old-fashioned.” All removing filters did was make the platform generally harder to use.

The verification system is extremely flawed in its own right. “Veriff” has stated that they only hold “Biometric Data” for 90 days. This means if someone did upload an infected model and got banned, all they would need to do is wait 90 days. This means that roblox’s verification system has not successfully protected the platform, and is only a temporary solution. What roblox has successfully done however, is create a blackmarket for verified accounts. People who are cannot verify on the platform for whatever reason will look into likely tos-breaking solutions.

TLDR; roblox removed filters likely for “corporate aesthetic” and roblox’s age verification is a temporary solution that will likely bring more problems in the future.
