yeah, I agree with you since not all the concept is the same…so its okay.
Every time you see posts like these if your a small dev just expected to get absolutely screwed. Great less free robux games thats progress. But COME ONNN fully amplifying on the algorithm stats its not completely fair it gets rid of any originality there needs to be more thought into algorithm instead of: RNG = good trends = good!!
I and many devs have already lost over 50% of their CCU from these changes I don’t really know if capitalizing even more on trends is a good idea. ROBLOX…
Roblox, no offense, but AI generated stuff is low quality content.
Infact these Generated slop thumbnails are just irrelevant to the game itself.
Thats honestly not “being accurate” if you ask me.
I dont hate the idea of using AI stuff as a PLACEHOLDER, as long as its NOT the final product. But using it as a final product makes the product itself just rubbish.
Games with low ratings recommendation greatly increased after recent update. And the games themes which were relevant to me are not displayed like it used to before. I used to see frequently games recommendations that match my favorited and liked games. Now I’m getting these.
I understand that everyone deserves help with game exposure, but honestly many of these titles when I’ve checked got these low ratings for very good reasons, one of them could be paid access accompanied with low quality content. These recommendations aren’t good at all, not to mention RNG games that are also featured frequently in this list.
Wow, 81 likes on a post reply regarding monopiles. Ive seen tons of games CCU go down this week far more than usual. Have these changes to sort around monopiles been in place yet? Is anyone affected? Or are we all just dealing with a loss of 50% CCU!!!
This is a good idea, but I’m really unhappy with the execution. I put a lot of effort into my game, and it was enjoying about 3,000 plays a day from home recommendations. It had excellent session times, very solid monetization, and lovely reviews from players. After this update, it dropped to ~100, and the game is now dead. I figured it was something about the description or the fact that it had no genre set, so I changed that and waited a few days. Still nothing. This is super demoralizing. It was a promising game.
I can’t make a 100% certain attribution to this update, but what else could it be?
It’s not a clone of anything, and it’s not low effort. I worked hard on this game and spent thousands of dollars on ads to get it some exposure, and I was relieved because the home recommendations outstripped the ads and I was ready to stop buying ads for it. Now nobody’s playing it and it’s making Roblox and me zero dollars.
I hate to ask for an update to be rolled back because I worked for Roblox and I understand how much effort it is to make an update like this come together. But if it’s killing new and promising games, that will be extremely bad for the platform long-term.
Roblox, I like how this update sounds
BUT
PLEASE elaborate on how to get our new games to be picked up by home recommendations after this update.
It is blanked out of this and not clear at all!
same situation for me. On about the EXACT SAME DATE(DEC 9th) started to lose home recommendations in huge numbers. I am now getting 1/3rd of what I was before that date(300 vs 1500). My game is also not low quality or a clone but…
I think we would appreciate a response on this(were 1000% never getting one)
This happened to A LOT of my own & my friends’ games
The only people benefitting from this are the top front page experiences who already have thousands of CCUs and can be considered “original”. BS
This needs to be reverted asap
Oh, and we should probably all add that we’re not seeing the notification about our games being de-prioritized. Right? So what are we supposed to do here?
AwesomeDev, you must be new to dev forum. This is ROBLOX in 2025 where we release changes don’t respond or look at feedback and only feed the top monopiles. Welcome to modern Roblox.
If my game got wrongly flagged, how do I appeal?
I have issues with this.
My game, Escape Room Adventures, is just over two years old. I’ve put countless hours into it. Thousands of hours. It never did very well until this October when it started to get up to 2000 players a day on average. It was even featured. I was cool with that. And excited, so I started to ramp up the content.
And then, today, I get hit with the ‘Your experience has reduced exposure across Home and Search
Follow our best practices to improve your exposure’ flag and my player count dropped to about an average of 10.
I don’t consider my game ‘low quality’. It’s not nearly as polished as some of the great games I’ve played on here, but it’s not ‘low quality’ It has one person working on it. Me. And it’s a decent game.
I’ve no idea what went wrong.
I’ve followed the Best Practices. I’ve always tried to adhere to the best standards and practices. I do use AI generated thumbs and icons but they’re all of images relevant to my escape rooms. Frankly I think they’re unique and cool looking. I’ve not tried to copy any other games. I consider mine to be unique and interesting, if a bit too difficult for some players. But I want it to be difficult. I use assets, yes, because I’m not the greatest designer in the world but I don’t abuse them. So, you See, I’m scratching my head here, wondering why, with no available means of finding out a real answer.
I don’t want to be lumped in with–from what I’ve read from some posts–the scammers that copy popular game titles and exploit them. I’ve spent two solid years on this game. It’s mine. And I care about it.
As was asked by another user I saw in a post on this thread who believes they were wrongly flagged, how does one appeal this? Or at least get some real feedback about game-specific changes needed to remove this heart-sinking flag?
But the real game would be constantly updated still and the copy games would not, so the copy games would be older. That is not a good system
Well thats unfortunate and ROBLOX don’t care. Your stats can be good but they won’t give you anything.(They used to boost you in the 70th pericline) Now you have to be in the 90th in all. Sorry. Get over it. If your game can’t even get those stats because its not a trend then QUIT it. Welcome to roblox pick a trend or quit the project bro.
I’ve no idea what went wrong.
I do use AI generated thumbs and icons
What a mystery.
Hello there! Despite this feature being really useful for the player side, it is harming some games with unclear reasons. Yes, I know the “rules” for this warning message to not show up are up there; however, the analytics page doesn’t really tell you what failed and how you should mitigate it.
I have two versions of my The Lost Land survival game. This game was raised from the depths last week reaching 900+ users out of nowhere and then killed the following week with such feature.
Game Link: The Lost Land [Remastered] - Roblox
This game is under my group, and the original game is released under my account. This new version of the game features a lot more stuff than the original and is supposed to “replace it”. So, I have no idea what caused this sudden change in the game itself. (was it stats themselves being used to determine such result, I need to know, and if it is. It is the worst thing for those who doesn’t have a stablished community like me)
Please reply to me back in private about why this is happening, thank you. After seeing the message today, I chose other thumbnails for recommendation, changed genre, and changed description, however, I don’t see anything wrong with previous ones.
Focasds, you sound like an idiot ask them to please message you. They are 100% never ever ever going to read your message let alone DM you a reason.
Similar situation for me. I have a game in the 70th-80th percentile in all but one category. That lost about 50% CCU How is it fair that a game that’s repayable but has less monetization less session time gets 10000x more players?!?!?!
LIKE COME ON. Is it not easy to add algorithm changes like it was mentioned once all year such as “if high session time and monitization but not replayble then show on algorithm” or “if high retention and high click rate than show” It literally sounds like it could be programmed in minutes why are we waiting 10+ months for these lazy designs TO FINISH AND ALGORITHM THAT should have been done when it came out in MAY OF 2024!?!?!?!?!
SINCE MAY OF 2024!!!
This algorithm just monopolizes like the top guy said with 90 likes on in this post. Almost everyone’s CCU has 1/3rd since this update released… Come on…
What else can I do right…? I am trying to keep everything as professional as possible, even though it doesn’t deserve it.
I am exhausted by the constant changes to this unfinished algorithm. I genuinely wonder about the results of those surveys they send every 4-5 months regarding monetary goals and reaching the desired audience.
I would think that the games that remain in algorithm are just the ones that are getting as much juice from the players. However, this doesn’t apply to all games, including my game. So, I would assume this to be one of the reasons as to why it was taken down like this by the algorithm. However, seeing the posts of The Algorithm Is Killing My Game, people with high revenue are also losing players too.
So, I guess the algorithm is just a guy in Roblox throwing a dart to a dartboard to see which game it picks, then it removes the darts from the lands they didn’t like.
Seems every single stat is now USELESS other than day 1 retention and click rate. ANYONE WITH A BRAIN CAN SEE THIS ONLY FITS LIKE 30% OF ROBLOX GAME STYLES. (Leaving short play sessions and clickbait games on top)
Incase you forgot roblox: big play time is good. Lets start with some type of if condition for both situations. Some are played once in a large session, and COME ON you can’t completely remove recomdations with pay to play those are helpful. Removing all other requirements other than 1/2 is a horrible idea.
There LAZY/evil they won’t change it for at least 15 months…
