Incorrect Bounding Box

Hello!

When using the ProportionsNormal or ProportionsSlender bounding boxes for my UGC accessories, it is forcing it to conform to Classic boundaries.

What’s happening is I’ll create an accessory with a bounding box using ProportionsNormal, but when I go to upload it I’ll get the error saying my accessory has extended out of the bounding box, and then it’ll show me the box size of the Classic proportions. It should be giving me the size for ProportionsNormal. I am trying this on multiple accessories that before this bug would pass just fine, so no it is not an issue with a new accessory I’ve made. Please help!

Having this issue too, I’m like 99% sure this is a roblox issue, as when I try to resubmit shoulder items I’ve already made it tells me that it can’t be uploaded (Despite me already have uploading it.)

Found the exact issue I believe studio is doing.
So I was doing some tests, and for said tests I made the bounding block, and slightly made it out of the bounding box of the normal shoulder. And then made it a proportion normal box.

Somehow, somewhere in studios spaghetti code. It is making the proportion normal into the other smaller bounding box for. Whatever reason I have no idea, unless there is something I’m missing here we are likely gonna have to wait for the next studio update.

Just because you were able to upload those items in the past doesn’t mean they’ll still meet current requirements. Roblox frequently updates its asset validation systems to enforce stricter guidelines and reduce abuse on the marketplace. If the item no longer passes those updated checks, the system will prevent it from being resubmitted—even if it was previously accepted. This isn’t necessarily a bug, but rather a result of those evolving standards.

Ah alright I see, my reason for thinking that was because of it still fitting in the bounding box, I’m assuming this is an issue of a plugin instead? I’m unaware of how to access bounding boxes in studio.

If there was a change to current requirements then there was absolutely zero announcement or documentation update. The Shoulder (attached to RightShoulderAttachment, LeftShoulderAttachment) specifications still are (2.67, 4.40, 3.09) max. (at Specifications)

If this was an intentional change, it obviously hasn’t completely rolled out yet hence the documentation hasn’t been updated to reflect the new requirements. Just give them time to roll it out completely, and the docs will be updated in due course

Hey, thanks for the report on this. We have been making significant updates to validation, but we also try to send out alerts when we do. This one sounds like a bug, so we’ll take a look.

I’m still having this issue when attempting to upload my own UGC accessories using ProportionsNormal with my accessories being forced to use classic boundaries.

Has there been any further updates on this issue?

I was given a message by staff to send a .fbx file that was having the issue about a month ago. Never heard back after. My sales are slowing down by a lot this is really hurting me since i rely on this for my income irl

I was having this problem too, I think roblox ““fixed”” bounding boxes by making them all the same and not announcing it, they have done several changes with their introduction of PBR-enabled UGC uploads which I guess would affect the upload validation.

The only solution I can suggest to you all is that you upload the UGC shifted up to fit in the bounding box and have players correct that with the Accessory Adjustment tool, I recommend you investigate how much you can move an accessory. If your UGC is still out of bounding box (if you do something like gloves that reaches below the hand it likely will) I also recommend you scale it down to 83.33%, so that people can size it to 120% (the maximum in the Accessory Adjustment).

Below are examples of how I’ve done it, the arms were scaled to 83.33% and moved up 0.475 studs, making them barely fit:

I hope this helps you, it took me multiple uploads to figure it out, great way to spend money

This is a good workaround, however what I’m worried about is how people visually see the accessory when they go to buy it. Most times, people will check how an accessory looks on their avatar, and just seeing it being fully off-center may stray people away from buying it.

At this point, it’s mostly just the fact that roblox staff seem to ignore this bug, and could at least update documentation if it was changed. However, this would make no sense to me for them to still allow you to select the Normal and Slender proportions without getting the error that they dont exist. I still get the error that a proportion “does not exist” when i try a random value like 12345.

Hopefully, reviving this post may bring more attention to it, even considering the fact I was ghosted in my messages  My UGC profits have been tanking as I rely on these low shoulder accessories since they are the main attraction for my group. I will have to settle on making other stuff for now, but I would really like to continue! This is mostly all my income in real life right now :worried:

It has almost been 3 months and I’m still having this issue. Roblox has not updated their documentation regarding bounds, so this is most certainly a bug.

After some more experimenting, i’ve found that this is not only effecting the Shoulder accessories, but also every other accessory type.

For example, I tried just making a Neck accessory that goes out of the Classic bounding box, but fits within the ProportionsNormal bounding box:

[Green color represents the Classic box] [Red color represents the ProportionsNormal box]

Then, with the same result, it believes that i’m using the Classic proportions despite being on ProportionsNormal:

So, this means there are not only creators being effected who create larger Shoulder accessories, but also likely people who create larger Neck, Waist, Front, and Back accessories.

Does anyone know if theres someone specific I can contact about this? I contacted Roblox Support with my issue including evidence and a link to this devforum post, but they were unable to help and gave me a generic reply.

The staff on here who originally responded has left me ghosted for months, and seemed to have no more activity after speaking to me.

People are being effected still! When will we get help for this?

It would appear the individual who originally commented on this post is no longer a Roblox staff member. Which could explain some things surrounding that lack of communication.

Bumping this thread. This bug has been limiting the amount of freedom and diversity you can have with accessories in regards to their size and/or placement on the player character for a while now.

this explains a lot, was trying to upload my first “shoulder” (full arm) ugc and was confused with the validation stuff.
i was under the impression that “classic” meant those were the bounds for anything that was also r6 compatible, and that setting it to “normal” meant that r6 wouldnt be able to wear those items, but this seems to be false(?)

anyway this bug really sucks, roblox let me make claws please

Bumping this thread, I’ve had the misfortune of finding out about this issue after spending a lot of time on a model.

Hoping this thread will stay up. I was falsely terminated and can’t do anything about it, can we please get attention to this bug so that it can get fixed before my devforum account is locked?

First the staff member no longer works at roblox now OP gets terminated, this thread is crazy for a bug report :sob:
