Introducing Developer SOS: Get 5k Robux in Funding + Professional Help with a Flopped Game! [ITS FREE!]

Update: After 3 fun episodes, DevSOS is, unfortunately, coming to a close. Thank you all for your amazing support!

Hello everyone! Today I’m announcing an opportunity to help growing devs! It’s called “Developer SOS” as you may have guessed from the title.

Have you ever put your heart and soul into a game, only to have nobody play it? Just contact Developer SOS!

Every week we’ll answer questions sent in from developers facing troubles with their game.

My name’s CJ, I’m the host! I’m a 2x accelerator, 2 year game design major, with 200M plays, and 12 years as a developer. Alongside me will be rotating guest developers brought on each week!

Of our current confirmed list of guests, we have a combined 1 billion plays worth of experience! So far our guests this season include: @RBXKyle , @Erythia , @tyridge77 , @InsanelyLuke , @ScriptOn , @Myzta , @Olicai , @boatbomber , and @AlgyLacey !

Here’s how it will go, you - an aspiring developer with a game that’s been released but didn’t succeed - will fill out the form below. We’ll compile all the entries into a list, and our favorite ones will be read aloud and discussed between the host and the guest.

After we’ve discussed every entry on the list, the live audience will vote on which game was their favorite. That game will get 5000 R$ to use for advertising of the game after the changes have been made. As Robux giveaways aren’t allowed, think of it instead as us hiring you as a contractor for your own game. Hopefully the extra marketing + improvements will be enough to help your game into the sunlight!

Our first episode is Wednesday January 6th from 7-9 PM EST! Sign up to be in the live audience here!

Are you interested in possibly having your game appear in an episode? Please fill out this form and tell us about your game! We’ll let you know if you’ve made our final list for an upcoming episode. We’ll also of course reach out to you for further correspondence if you win the 5000 R$.

To everyone else, we’ll be doing QnA throughout the episode, responding to questions related to the topic / game at hand. Be sure to stop by, it’ll be a real party!

Hope to see ya there!

Hey.

I understand that those 5000R$ are for advertisments?

Mhm, in order to get that the audience would need to vote for your game out of 3-4 others. Then you’d have to implement some (but not necessarily all) of the changes we suggest. Once you do that we’ll forward you the robux through one of my groups :+1:

I’m loving this idea, and how you guys are taking time out of your days to assist smaller developers. Quick question though.

Is Developer SOS going to be a one-time thing? I noticed you stated “Our first episode-”, but you never said anything about future and oncoming episodes. It would be great if Developer SOS would be an indefinite thing.

Just saw this on twitter, I think this is a really good idea!

Glad you like the idea! We’re hoping to make it an indefinite thing, though like real TV shows we also have to consider supply / demand. If people stop showing up / devs stop sending in their games we’d likely stop. The plan for now though is to make an episode at least twice a month, with the long term goal of weekly if there’s demand for it!

Sounds like an amazing idea to help upcoming creators!

If more funding is needed, feel free to message me as I am interested in helping out upcoming talent!

See you there

Sounds like a great idea to give funding to developers who have no budget at all!

I would consider this, but not yet, as my game is still in development lol

If you guys are interested in seeing it, here is the link:

It gets updated regularly (for now, since I’m in winter break), and it is currently in my own group Boggarak Studios.

Awesome! Thanks! I’d certainly be down for that. Let me know if you’d be interested appearing as one of our weekly guests!

Looks promising! Definitely submit it if you hit any post release speedbumps, or want help with growing beyond whatever initial success you achieve. This show will hopefully continue for a long time, so we’ll be there if you need us :+1:

Looks great for the newer developers, where sometimes really amazing games pop up! Unfortunately there’s always an investment that has to be made,. Hopefully Developer SOS will motivate developers to just develop and not really focus on the money :upside_down_face:

How do you monetize this project? Do you fund it from your own money? What are your revenue generation plans?

The originally my plan was to self fund, but already I’ve gotten generous offers from other devs to subsidize the payouts!

As to monetizing this project, for now it’s something I’m going to do because I enjoy it. Maybe one day we’ll consider a revenue option, but only way that’ll happen is if we amp up production quality like with legit sets and stuff to reflect the increased cost and hours put into it.

This sounds really cool! Shame that my games aren’t good enough however I’m going to tag a friend here who I’ve worked on their interesting game.

Will it be live streamed on YouTube?

Don’t you think it will be more fitting to change the date to the weekend at an earlier time. Say if someone from Europe wants to join in on this, it will be already late late and most likely sleeping. I myself is EST but it is important to keep in mind of the other time zones. Also, Wednesday is a school night as well, people might have to study for test or exams and maybe finish projects and homework. I am excited for this idea! I just suggest make those few changes.

Tbh I think this is a wonderful idea.
But how will you deal with people who take the robux and run?

This is really an awesome opportunity and I highly suggest players who are wishing to kickstart their game to participate! I might participate because I need to advertise my game once it’s ready :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Thank you for doing this fantastic idea. This will save a lot of small projects and increase the success of small developers! I am really glad to see this.

Very good idea and very nice to do, I have started making a “big” game and I’m afraid when I’m done that no one will play it so I’m looking forward to developer SOS ! Also I was wondering if we can submit “beta version” games (that are entirely working but lacking in content ) or should we only submit complete game (you say “game that’s been released” but do you count beta as “released”) ?
