Introducing Drenoketh

UPDATE: Well this got off to a very rocky start. There was an issue that resulted in the game freezing for new players. This should be fixed, and it has been tested on two accounts that were having the issue before. If you happened to encounter any similar issues, please do report them.

Greetings adventurer! Are you ready for a new world? Drenoketh has entered early access release, and it is now open access! Quests and glory await! Enter the adventure: Drenoketh [EARLY] - Roblox

What is it?

Drenoketh is a story-driven MORPG developed on the Roblox platform. You can play through the main quest, pick up side quests, or strike out on your own adventure while fighting any monster that stands in your way.

Where is it going?

Drenoketh aims to provide the story quality of a single player RPG, but make it multiplayer. While it is in its infancy, the design plans for the game will hopefully lead to a full MORPG experience as well.

Early Access, what is that?

You can think of it as an open Beta if you wish. So far only a very restricted player base has been allowed into the game. Now that Drenoketh is in Early Access, it is open! There will bugs. Please report them, bug fixing is a priority.

Is the full game finished?

No. Drenoketh will likely never be “finished.” It is the kind of game that constantly grows through new content additions. As of now, the main quest is also unfinished. When you reach the current final quest in that questline, you will be unable to proceed until a later update. Content will be delivered over time. This is not to say that there is no content, only that far, far more has been planned.

Can my device run it?

If it can run most games then most likely, yes! It is worth noting that some of the areas loaded in are large, and a very low end or old device might struggle with it. It has been tested on an older PC and a newer phone, and both ran it well. Roblox might reduce your rendering distance, or not display certain effects, if you are on an older or low end device. If your device struggles to run it, please say so, and that way the issue can be investigated.

Feel free to offer constructive criticism. If there is a real problem that needs fixing, or something that could be improved, your suggestions will be taken seriously.

Ah, that’s not good. I’ve only had one other report of this occurring. Would you mind telling me what device you are using?

Im on windows 10,

Alright I was just now able to replicate this issue. I will edit this post as soon as I publish a fix. Thank you for reporting it.

EDIT: This should now be fixed. Thank you once again for reporting it.

I’m also stuck on the loading screen, and also win 10. I tried 3 times but never got past the loading screen. Edit: Didn’t see your reply saying you were already working on it

i wasnt really reporting anything i was just curious about what this game was

He meant reporting the issue with the swamplands loading screen

that was more of a informative comment if you will

I tried to play the game but never got past the character creator, I attempted twice and each time it lead to the game freezing up right on spawn or during the wasteland loading screen. Nevertheless, I really love the concept of this, as a big fan of RPGs theres a horrible lacking of them on ROBLOX. One suggestion I do have from what i’ve read about the game is starting the player off with a less powerful weapon, a laser gun seems like it should be a top-tier weapon when we are talking about RPGs. One of the main aspects of RPG development is that your character gets stronger throughout the game and starts off very weak, Also, the character faces look quite odd to me personally, kind of shocked me at first when i went into the creator. Besides that, I really hope you can overcome the crashing problems and make something great. :+1:

Thank you! This was an issue with creating the data for new players. It should now be fixed. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Thank you for the critique! The issue with the loading screen/freezing on spawn was caused by an issue creating the data for new players. For some reason Roblox did not return an error message, and it took some time to find the exact issue. It should now be fixed. If you ever feel like trying to play again sometime, I would appreciate your opinions on the playable version of the game.

Hmm it seems like it’s still not working for me, the entire game froze during the wastelands loading screen, wasn’t able to move my mouse or anything. Seems like a really annoying bug, maybe you didn’t publish the fixed version so it still froze? Can’t wait to experience the game once this is resolved

Wait, I tried and this time it loaded through

Thank you for the response. Yes it’s caused by an issue with the data saving script. I had it momentarily disabled to confirm that it was in fact that. I should hopefully have the issue fully fixed within the next few minutes. For some reason Roblox is not providing any error messages on that script.

EDIT: This should be fixed.

Also got stuck on wastelands loading screen, my hardware is a 3060ti and 5700x so I don’t think it’s on my end. No crash or error, just stuck.

Thank you for the report! This was the error everyone else was having I believe. This should be fixed now. If you ever decide to try the game again, I would be happy to hear what you think of it.

Great game the only problem I see is the bugs previously stated before when you release a new game people are bound to find bugs in the game.

Thanks for the positive words. I did mention that there would be bugs, but this was not one of the ones I was expecting. Odd thing is, it only affected new players, players that had been around for a while before were able to play just fine. Did it freeze for you when you tried to access it?

NPC & NPC Dialogue

The game needs more work and content before players can play it, you can’t fully interact with NPCs only listen to what they have to say, the Quest dialogue is way too big in my opinion and it lacks information, you don’t know which NPC you’re talking to unless they mention it.

The NPCs are lacking of information and context, I’d suggest adding different idle animations so we understand they aren’t speaking statues.

Quest Interaction mechanic

The first time I played it I didn’t realized you have to talk again to the NPC, I thought they would only say the first line because there isn’t any context like “talk again to x”, “…” or a better dialogue so the player can understand that there is more.

About the gun

The starter weapon needs more physics it seems like its only shooting some kinda of beam really slowly to wherever direction you look not aim at, the cross-hair on the screen is really inaccurate.

Overall

  • the background music is too loud.
  • you should add a option to toggle on/off shift-lock.
  • the needle on the screen doesn’t have directions, like north, south.
  • can’t chat by pressing “/” like it says, I had to press Q and open the Quest UI to free my mouse so I can directly click it.
  • the first time you spawn the starter weapon doesn’t show up until you press 1.
  • the laser gun gets more inaccurate if you walk and sometimes doesn’t deal damage.

edit and suggestion: if you’re planning to make a game like this you must have a game designer in your team.
