If you are using the old method of grass it would double performance.
Oooo this looks nice, wonder what I could make with this.
It’s honestly pretty nice. The only problems i have with it is that it’s conflicting with the terrain style and that it’s weird with the SSAO on high graphics settings, but I still like it.
Can’t wait to use this in Jailbreak! I’m going to hold off on using this in some projects, including Jailbreak, until we can paint out the 3D grass blades.
The grass looks fantastic in wilderness areas like this:
The grass is growing under roads and inside buildings. Painting it out makes it look patchy around the edges of those objects:
I know it says painting this stuff out is coming, so I’ll wait for that!
It would be nice to adjust the height of the grass to fit the landscaping.
Paint under it with a non-grass material!
I love it! As stated by others, it would be nice if there was some sort of check to see if there is a part obstructing the grass, which would ultimately make the grass not render through it. If not, I’m sure manually painting areas with grass would also be a viable option.

Funny enough, I thought why not trying this in Snow Resort, while the map still isn’t completely covered in Snow.
I have to say, it looks really nice!
If anyone comes with a plugin that let us use it outside of Smooth Terrain it would be amazing, some of us want to be able to put it on other kind of surfaces, like parts, for things like a Post Apocalyptic scene where there is grass inside buildings.
The grass makes a really nice addition to my old showcase and even gives it a little more life with the swaying of the grass. This feature has to be one of favorites this year.

Will the developers be allowed to customize the way the grass looks? Or have any changeable properties?
Yes, developers will have more control over the appearance of grass.
Thank you so much for this feature + the upcoming terrain decoration system. I’m sure this will save many builders’ lives when it comes to terrain environments and the great thing is that we don’t have to go back to existing maps and manually apply this. yet?

I’ve been trying it out and I’m glad to see that it does change colour with the grass’s colour AND it shows up on leafy grass. Wasn’t expecting them to think of this, since it’s still fairly early on.
I’d love to enjoy the new update. But unfortunately my procedural terrain is too powerful for studio. It needs to run on a beefy Roblox Server. Wish I could test in Studio through a Roblox Server ;(
I saw something similar to this in hack week 2018, this will definitely improve realism, and other games that are open-world!
I don’t really know if this was mentioned before, but will there be added grass interaction with objects (for example, when a player walks over the grass, the grass bends in a matching way)? Also, will it be possible to maybe change the texture of the grass in the future? Other than that, awesome update. Waited for this a long time. Keep up the good work.
Amazing addition to terrain, I’m loving what’s coming out with it lately. This alone will give so many new ways to create more realistic (or hey maybe not so realistic) types of games, thank you to the devs who made this! Can’t wait to mess around with it.
