Introducing "Hot Right Now" on Charts

Honestly, I wish we could customize both the Home page and the Charts page. If we could remove and change the positioning of elements ourself it would be fair to everyone, people who want to use this can, and people who only want specific sections can quickly access them.

Charts is designed in a way where a singular game can take up around 11.1% of the page, which means every duplicate game combined will probably take up over 50% of the page. Maybe even way higher.

Not to mention, this is essentially a duplicate of the popular section. Sure, I know they’re functionally different, but if the same games are displayed on each, aren’t they essentially the exact same?

Not necessarily about the update itself, but personalized discovery was the first recent step in the wrong direction after a wave of very good updates. I don’t know why everything on the Home page has to be automatic, especially since the page is supposed to be… your home. We’re barely given any control over this type of stuff and it honestly feels like feedback is being ignored.

I don’t mind new categories, but I don’t understand why Roblox keeps dancing around having a proper discovery system. I’m sure this has been mentioned countless times over the years, but please consider taking heavy inspiration from how Steam works. I think this is one of the biggest changes that Roblox needs.

However, because this has yet to happen, I worry if there’s some alternative reasoning for not doing so.

Edit:

Steam’s Store page:

I’ll give some proper examples though to avoid incorrect assumptions, albeit unlikely. If you even just open up Steam to store page, ideally on your own account, there’s already so much more going on. You can see any major site-wide events going on, such as the current Visual Novel Fest. Then there’s a large section with just featured and recommended content. Then below that are special offers that show major discounts going on. Then you can see popular categories and so on.

What Roblox lacks:

You could argue that Roblox does some of this already to some extent, but I think the largest difference is the lack of tags and Roblox’s seeming refusal to add such a system, at least so far. Steam’s tag system is what allows its recommended section to actually be individual players will likely want to play. This is because, where Roblox has to make AI assumptions, Steam has actual data behind what those games are (based on what the developer has tagged their game as well as players). Steam is extremely data driven, which I think is why it’s the dominant PC platform for games, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. Not only is it really easy to find new games that you may have never seen before and would want to play, but it also knows what games are similar to the ones you already play. This may be due to matching tags, but there’s also data regarding what players of one game will also likely play, which gives even more accurate recommendations when combined.

Short version:

My main point being that Roblox is too AI driven, making far too many assumptions about what things are, compared to Steam that has hard data. It also has a solid review system that only continues to improve, however I did see that Roblox is planning to add a review system in the near-ish future, so we’ll have to wait and see in regards to that. Please add a proper tagging system and revamp the home/charts pages to be more accurate, engaging, and just more useful in general.

Sales/Event system:

Oh, and a sales feature would also be nice, to set specific items, gamepasses, etc, to have special sales/deals. This could be either set manually for certain dates or to coincide with holidays or even site-wide events by Roblox. Then show these sales on the home/charts pages. Just make sure to have a system to prevent items from being on sale 24/7 to exploit this system. Though a tag system is more important.

Very fair and thanks. I don’t mean to discount your voice or efforts. I mean to point out that your words hold weight in the face of this team at Roblox historically not listening to the wider community.

Yes, the “hot right now” has reason to exist. But do the negatives outweigh the positives in the charts page’s current form? Not only that, but why have the efforts gone here instead of the many roadmap features?

To clarify, I mean the “Hot Right Now” sort lowers other sorts on the page. There’s only so much room that the average user would scroll through -or not at all. But, if Roblox first worked on Filters & Tags -like they said on the Roadmap- users could filter by CCU there. That’s not lowering existing sorts while also being a benefit to you.

That’s the page that benefits where you and I stand. Not only your stake in this.

can’t you guys just remove “Top Trending” and replace it with “Hot Right Now”, since i think the CCU based one on the top is a lot more compact and better than having 2 exact same lists with the only difference being one is actually updated in real player count time?

Wow so even random people on discord are realizing how pathetic this chart system is. ROBLOX better get a bad REP eventually. Really pathetic…

Monopoly tic tac toe. And ignore games with decent other metrics!
Believe it or not roblox people will tire of playing the same game/soulless clone. Crazy right roblox?!?!?!??!?!?!!?!?!?!(They could care less)

As my opinion, it was better calling it “Popular Right Now” instead of “Hot Right Now” for me, calling it “Hot Right Now” it’s a bit inappropriate.

Isn’t this just another Most Popular sorting chart?

Decent update however this will just give more exposure to big games instead of letting the smaller games hit the algorithm for recognition and discoverability.

I’m also pretty sure that we have “Top Trending” which is basically the same thing.

Tbh, I don’t like this feature cause we already knew that we had a “Most Popular Games” category.

I think I prefer the “Most Popular Games” category to this.

Why are these even sorts/charts in the first place? Top revisited is just the same as most popular, so there’s really no point in having 2 charts for the same games.

And who is going to see the top revenue chart and think ‘oh this game makes a lot of robux i have to play it!’ nobody takes into account how much a game makes before they play it, they just want it to be good, so that chart should be deleted as well.

This would leave room on the home page for some actual good sorts/charts like ‘hidden gems’ or ‘completely random’ or maybe some GENRE sorts which should have been in the game YEARS ago.

They added more genres, but still no ability to filter/sort/search them. It’s 2025 roblox come on get with the times, at this rate fortnite going to have genre search before you and you had a the biggest head start in history.

I actually did not understand this and now all my complaints I am taking back.
Great update, Roblox!

For many years I have completely avoided using Charts, even back when it was called “Games” I tended to just avoid it. Today I can say that this still remains the same and probably isn’t changing any time soon.

This new sort has changed literally nothing about how 99.99999% people find things, considering only the very top games appear on it. You could’ve added a static .png of a grizzly bear at the bottom of the page and it genuinely would’ve had more value than this. Please do better.

I would like to see more experiences that aren’t usually on the front page, games that are played by
