Introducing "Hot Right Now" on Charts

Nice to see it being sorted, but I have a feeling there are TOO many categories dedicated to popular games. Like, I can go through each and every tab and I will see the same exact games everywhere.

actually uhh they did mess around with the categories, and I see that they added “trending in:” ,really changed alot but it’s still just mostly weird cash grab games made for children, there are exceptions though.

What’s the difference between this sort and popular?

Let’s goo more players to the top 0.1%!!! :tada: :tada: :tada: :tada: :tada:

roblox will promote game that has the most chance of giving roblox more money by making players buy robux and the gamepasses, the owner also gets taxed 30% and a 72% deduction on the devex, you can also get taxxed AGAIN

This update is not Hot Right Now

It is like Roblox taxes taking a fix cut from each game, powering the strong ones, and weighing the small ones.

I mean not just that, the whole discovery page is filled with endless rows.

I mean it is almost impossible to not find blox fruits, Brookhaven, ect. in the discovery page!

Which page? The closest thing we have to a “discovery“ page is charts. Home page is like a imposter trying to fit in as a discovery page as it has lots of rows of recommend games even though home page is supposed to be organized.

There no discovery on Roblox :frowning:
Just biggest player count categories

I am trying to get used to the new names. Why does Roblox have to ruin everything :sob:.

They renamed it because they no want discovery, just a page full of high numbers for the investors to quickly look over.

Sadly, this is how life works in the marketing industry.

Why does Roblox feel the need to push the top 0.01% of games in our face even more than they already are?

“Today’s picks” was supposed to showcase lesser known, manually selected games, but I’ve seen juggernauts like Rivals, Pets go, and Fisch there.

Any of the “Top” categories have all the same games as well, as they all meet the highest metrics on Roblox.

I’m just disappointed at this point. My proposal is that smaller games that share good metrics should be in this category instead (ie. experiences picked from the top 50k of their metric, relative to player count)

Hmmm. What was it I said not even a week ago that people insisted on arguing with me on?

Oh! Yeah, I said the algorithm needs to be reworked to include a more diverse amount of games.

Man can you remember how silly it was that I got dogpiled for saying this.

I’m tired.

This is just another version of Most Popular. In other words, work of fixing your moderation system and not things that aren’t needed please.

At this point, it is investors first, and actual good suggestions from the community last.

Congrats on just remaking the old popular sort, such a wonderful ground-breaking update.

I use the page for where I stand now and for the years I spent chasing dreams as you do. All voices matter here-not just those still waiting for their moment. May yours arrive soon.

Honestly, I wish we could customize both the Home page and the Charts page. If we could remove and change the positioning of elements ourself it would be fair to everyone, people who want to use this can, and people who only want specific sections can quickly access them.

Charts is designed in a way where a singular game can take up around 11.1% of the page, which means every duplicate game combined will probably take up over 50% of the page. Maybe even way higher.

Not to mention, this is essentially a duplicate of the popular section. Sure, I know they’re functionally different, but if the same games are displayed on each, aren’t they essentially the exact same?

Not necessarily about the update itself, but personalized discovery was the first recent step in the wrong direction after a wave of very good updates. I don’t know why everything on the Home page has to be automatic, especially since the page is supposed to be… your home. We’re barely given any control over this type of stuff and it honestly feels like feedback is being ignored.

I don’t mind new categories, but I don’t understand why Roblox keeps dancing around having a proper discovery system. I’m sure this has been mentioned countless times over the years, but please consider taking heavy inspiration from how Steam works. I think this is one of the biggest changes that Roblox needs.

However, because this has yet to happen, I worry if there’s some alternative reasoning for not doing so.

Edit:

Steam’s Store page:

I’ll give some proper examples though to avoid incorrect assumptions, albeit unlikely. If you even just open up Steam to store page, ideally on your own account, there’s already so much more going on. You can see any major site-wide events going on, such as the current Visual Novel Fest. Then there’s a large section with just featured and recommended content. Then below that are special offers that show major discounts going on. Then you can see popular categories and so on.

What Roblox lacks:

You could argue that Roblox does some of this already to some extent, but I think the largest difference is the lack of tags and Roblox’s seeming refusal to add such a system, at least so far. Steam’s tag system is what allows its recommended section to actually be individual players will likely want to play. This is because, where Roblox has to make AI assumptions, Steam has actual data behind what those games are (based on what the developer has tagged their game as well as players). Steam is extremely data driven, which I think is why it’s the dominant PC platform for games, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. Not only is it really easy to find new games that you may have never seen before and would want to play, but it also knows what games are similar to the ones you already play. This may be due to matching tags, but there’s also data regarding what players of one game will also likely play, which gives even more accurate recommendations when combined.

Short version:

My main point being that Roblox is too AI driven, making far too many assumptions about what things are, compared to Steam that has hard data. It also has a solid review system that only continues to improve, however I did see that Roblox is planning to add a review system in the near-ish future, so we’ll have to wait and see in regards to that. Please add a proper tagging system and revamp the home/charts pages to be more accurate, engaging, and just more useful in general.

Sales/Event system:

Oh, and a sales feature would also be nice, to set specific items, gamepasses, etc, to have special sales/deals. This could be either set manually for certain dates or to coincide with holidays or even site-wide events by Roblox. Then show these sales on the home/charts pages. Just make sure to have a system to prevent items from being on sale 24/7 to exploit this system. Though a tag system is more important.
