Introducing Talent Hub Open Beta - New Platform to Find & Post Work!

Yeah this is one of the biggest issues I have with talent hub and if this can’t be implemented at least the portfolios section of collaboration should remain open.

Completely agree. I really hope that Roblox staff listen to us about this- it’s a big impact on developers.
@peraldon Could you provide us with a response on the last 3-4 replies?

Roblox is going to get rid of #collaboration category eventually. The Talent Hub is meant to be a replacement.

Hey!

Thanks for your thoughts and feedback on Talent Hub, we really appreciate it.

I thought it would be good to respond to the major points individually, just so I can shed some context, as well as understand more deeply the pain points you currently see, and how we can resolve them for you!

Character Limits
We’re working on increasing these, please keep an eye out!

Images
I agree that images are not in an ideal state right now (although they’ll be easier to use once character limits increase). Full image support, including drag-and-drop, is one of our highest priorities right now, and we’re working out how to do this in a way that will allow us to support other asset types in the future (such as video, or even 3D models).

Bugs
We cannot fix every bug unless they are reported to us, so please file a bug report on here! Alternatively, you can PM me if you don’t have access to file bug reports. Your moderation issue also seems like it could be a bug, so would love more information around that, if you have any. We have a moderation team that works every day, so generally, content is moderated quite quickly (ie definitely <24hr).

Portfolios
I’d love to know what sort of specific problems you face when searching for the right Creator. Is it that you have to click into their Creator Page to see if they’re a good match, and would rather you be able to see all of this content directly within the search page?

Adding my own two cents here, it has been very cumbersome to browse through portfolios when people just link their game and move on with their day - it immediately dissuades me from properly looking through the thread, which becomes an even more apparent issue because the forum currently incentivizes people to link Roblox places rather than images, gifs etc.
I’m not sure in regards to [detail] lists (dropdown menus), but those would be greatly appreciated if they haven’t been added already. I’d find it interesting if something like what GitHub has could be implemented, for easier organization and QoL:

Adding onto this: a “thread” or “bulk-view” mode would be super nice - basically, imitating how DevForum’s posts currently work. This would solve most of my own problems in regards to trying to find contractors faster:

What about this view works well in your eyes? Is it the number of results you can see at once, or the ability for users to define the title of their thread, or something else?

A mix of both. Threaded posts allow for quick examination & understanding of the overall structure of the post.
It can be hard to read through somewhat-important information when viewing large lists of messages that are arranged in a grid, taking up a lot of space - basically, threading eliminates list-clutter and saves for mental & temporal resources, taking less effort to skim through posts and allowing for more focus to be put on actually constructing a message to the potential contractor.

Hey @peraldon,

The main issue I have been having with portfolios is that there is no sort of stand-up portfolio like there is a hiring board. Previously I used to use devforum’s portfolios section to post my UI portfolio which could be bumped and reviewed with feedback to gain trust and respect in the community. This is no longer an option in Talent Hub. I would wish for this to become a thing because ever since Talent Hub released, it’s been difficult to get orders for designing without an actual portfolio that separates you from the rest. Specifically, design work is visual, so a portfolio with proper image examples inside the Talent Hub itself is a very important requirement.

Adding onto this, visiting a user’s creator page provides no visual portfolio on the page, only a minimal description of their skills and a list of experiences (again no visual representation just a list with links.) This makes it very complicated to pick someone that could be perfect for your job, because you can’t see their work unless you go to their devforum profile, or contact them via another messaging system.

My idea of a portfolio’s section would look somewhat like this:

It could even be in the same format as the hiring board, but instead of “Looking for a programmer/scripter”, or “Hiring scripters for a game…” it could be individual portfolios which can be posted, reviewed upon, and bumped up to the top of the page similar to devforum.

Another freelance designing platform also known has Dribbble also has a similar layout to Talent Hub, but instead of just creator profiles a layout with images, skill sets and details would make it seem much better and visually appealing:

They also have a hiring board extremely similar to what the Talent Hub has as of right now:

Without this addition, in my opinion, the Talent Hub is really not a suitable replacement for the portfolios section. A solution could include the #collaboration:portfolios being reopened until we have this available on Talent Hub, or we could have a better and updated solution of a visual portfolio board directly on talent hub.

I hope you understand that even a change such as shutting #collaboration:portfolios down and not having an actual portfolio board on the Talent Hub can impact many people, which I think quite a few people agree with.

Thanks,

I agree with your opinion on this. I feel that the number of results actually does help narrow down the search results instead of having to keep visiting the next page. I really do like the concept that the developer forum had.

As well as the defining of the title and more focus on the actual text instead of other details, although I feel there should be two different mode options, no need to really get rid of the current mode as it functions fin

Read this, you can access the Talent Hub if you are using the DevForum.

I would very much prefer this over than looking through the creator page

This would be perfect v

This literally killed my income overnight, should of have atleast gave us some time to move from one platform to the other, but closing the ability to bump portfolios on devforum, and moving to an incomplete platform… come on!

  • Atleast make a “TalentHub” App, some of us are not able to look at the platform all the time.
  • Inbox should have a quick icon on the side showing you have new messages!
  • It is incredible we cant not post our Discord user on our own creator page, this makes the process really slow i have to be paying attention to the platform all the time! it should be more “Automatic” just let us post our discord!

Yeah, this would make it so much easier.

We need a filter in the search, so you can filter out anyone under x years of experience.

Also x years of experience of what? Should have to be assigned for each individual skill.

I think that already is a feature. If you select a skill under the filter (UI design, Building, Scripting e.t.c.) and then select the x years of experience it should only show that chosen skill with the years of experience.

Hope this helps.

Ohh my bad! I didnt even see there was a filter

Finding developers is just not practical at all. As I’m sure @ZR5M has stated, attempting to view a user’s past work is non-intuitive as you’d click on their profile and see examples like this:

Note- I filtered users by the “UI Design” skill and these were the top results, so what you see above is what a user looking to hire a UI designer would see. In the last image, this is the youtube channel linked:

It is impossible to find a developer while knowing their abilities and being able to see past work.

For the love of god, please do not delete #collaboration:portfolios. But then again, only deleting #collaboration:recruitment is on the table.

What do you mean? I said that it should only be account restrictions (parental restrictions)

Hello, I’m not sure what to put for the compensation textbox on talent hub. I am looking for workers (i own a game and i want ppl to make maps for me). What should I put?
