Introducing the Game Fund

They usually allow people who will turn 18 by the time the program starts to apply but because of the fact that there’s no real dates besides rough estimates, it’s hard to calculate if you’d be able to do it or not. I suggest just waiting until you’re 18 to apply.

Why do we have to be 18+ to get funds. THAT’S RIDICULOUS. That’s not even fair to other ROBLOX developers.

Amazing, but of course, there’s always something that makes it not good enough.

I respect the security concerns behind giving someone under 18 a bunch of money, and why you wouldn’t want to do that. But, as a 15-year-old developer, I have numerous game ideas that do have the potential to take off and revolutionize the platform… but all of it goes into the trash due to this age restriction.

If it is possible, I ask that Roblox staff consider allowing 13+ users to request funding after some sort of background check and verification from a parent or guardian. This would help younger developers and the platform itself grow exponentially.

This is exactly how ROBLOX should be. Kindness, Creativity, Fairness.

It’s not exactly ridiculous, it’s due to the fact that the developers need to be able to sign a legally binding contract.

(Sorry for replying to the wrong person!)

The accelerator program is meant for new devs that have the skills, but don’t know the best ways of directing a project on their own.

Adding onto that, if they plan on having you sign any NDAs, they’re not enforceable when you’re a minor so you’d be able to get away with quite a lot from Roblox without feeling much repercussions if none at all.

You must use the avatar set by the player in the Roblox avatar editor (no in-game avatar editor)

Basically, anything in the marketplace should be allowed to be used in your game.

Well, this is exactly why I suggested that a parent or guardian has to verify this.

…and verification from a parent or guardian.

A parent or guardian that trusts in their child’s abilities CAN sign a legally binding contract for the minor in question. As long as the parent signing the contract isn’t irresponsible, they are able to make a decision for their kid.

I’d like to also add that when you have to worry about your own living expenses, it is almost impossible to be able to give your undivided attention to developing a game. Not only that, but having to keep track of work deadlines on top of development deadlines is super stressful, then add daily life stuff, and you really won’t be guaranteed to do well in a short amount of time.

True but with dealings worth at least 500k they’d probably prefer to deal with people that doesn’t need a 3rd party person to do business with.

Can we get some extra details on how this differs from the Accelerator Program? How will Roblox ensure that the money is used exclusively on the project? Does advertising count as going towards the project? Lots of questions that weren’t answered in the OP.

This is amazing. I do think that US$500,000 is a bit overkill though for a Roblox game, I know Roblox can afford this but it seems like too much.

The fact that Roblox has mobile optimization in mind is good to hear considering most games do not run well on a phone at lowest settings.

Well done Roblox!

So 1st point is like by default
Second. I’m not aware of a functionality to restrict or allow marketplace items in-game? Can you elaborate?

For example you cannot ban a specific item like the Tonk. Well, this is what it seems they mean.

You are getting money for the whole project, not your developers. So you must be at least 18 years old

Alrighty, thank you. My business/development partner is turning 18 in December.

This is amazing! Roblox must really want to keep their top experiences dynamic and the epitome of what Roblox Studio can accomplish.

I’m extremely excited to see what Roblox will look like even just 10 years down the road, including everything from its top performers to any up-and-coming titles. :astonished:

Even with a grandiose funding amount, I’m not seeing too many game companies flocking onto Roblox as a result of the clunky and strange features that occupy the game engine.

Wdym by that? I don’t understand
