This is one of the best announcements in a long time, and is extremely needed for many developers in the community who strive to make one of the best experiences yet have no funding for their awesome creations. Heck, this will bring in amazing new experiences for players to enjoy and maybe even encourage current games to improve.
Itâs for legal reasons, not something random.
You shouldnât really underestimate underage developers. There are a few that are super talented and creative, but does not have enough financial support to be able to show their full potential. Honestly I would be fine if Roblox decided to allow underage developers to partake in this program, even if they have to go through a complicated process of signing NDAs and contracts through the developerâs legal guardians. If they fund through Robux I honestly donât think thereâs a problem, since they can control how and where the funds are used at any point.
I would not like to be in these 2 companies as a developer or whatever, considering that I know what they mainly want. It was too much income than the consumer experience and itâs sad honestly. This is my opinion, I had experiences as a consumer for a while with the two but Iâm glad I didnât give up On Roblox.
I think the âNextâ button changes itâs text to submit on the final page of the survey.
Edit: For some reason this is the only survey that doesnât have thisâŚ
From what I heard through legal websites on NDAs:
Underage people can sign NDAs however they cannot be enforced until they hit their 18th birthday.
I am not a lawyer and may be incorrect.
I think your standard is truly out of place, iâll be frank, your âconsumerâ point of view has no worth.
Roblox is seeking for results, and if you do have past experiences to these companies, itâs proof that you know what you are doing.
by no abuse, your chances of being accepted will skyrocket of you did worked for one of these companies and bring up a decent plan on the table, and just to make it worse for you, being a greedy developer might work for Roblox aswell, since 500k USD is quite the sum, the goal is to obviously release a production that gains more than the initial investment.
Do you think if anyone has experience in Epic Games theyâll be accepted? I think not, the competition is great, and who worked at Supercell, Sony, Tencent and so on I do not think they will want to help such a great competitor. I hope theyâre chosen people who deserve to be from the community.
I agree that a âfewâ of the community can be eligible for it.
However, itâs 500,000 USD, this is not a sum that 98% projects in Roblox will ever need to complete their game, so they will likely accept either extremely good current developers to assist them greatly, or a outsider team that possess a real industry standard.
As hopefully someone youâd think deserves it Iâll do my best, but itâs not easy. I can create the best application in the whole wide world but I do not have the experience to back everything up, nor do a majority of the people from the community. Roblox has to bank on those who ARE worth it without a doubt, so quite frankly it doesnât matter about social sustainability if you canât be economically sustainable. Half a million, minimum, is a fair amount to drop into a project. I just dropped 1k of my own money into a project and it covers practically nothing. 500k can, however, get a project going and creates potential long-term jobs on the platform, which is the goal of the Game Fund from what I can really tell. This is simply an unwinnable game from what I can see on my behalf but I ainât gonna give up. Anyways, itâs up to Roblox to decide whoâs the safest. The only reason Iâm even trying at this point is since I have college experience in the business so I know what to say, just hope I have enough experience.
I reckon theyâre trying to put a real industry standard into Roblox itself with programs like this. The amount of higher-end related updates as of late has shown that nature from Roblox. But, if all goes well, it seems like this is going to primarily serve as a way to fund customization throughout the platform. I donât just mean graphics settings, general settings, or any of that but stuff like metaverse items too. It seems like Roblox is trying to push a collective of games that operate together, if not large scale games with a plethora of gameplay options, which is a risky move but I support it in the end.
I never did. This is literal law⌠Please research this before you go spreading the obvious.
As a professional dev who has been designing a game for the platform since February on my evenings and weekends, Iâm really looking forward to applying for this! Itâs also just great to see initiatives like this on the platform because these high-quality experiences will bring in a wider audience and that can only mean good things for developers who want to start professional ventures on here.
As for me, I am happy about this Fund thing. Because I have great ideas and concepts (and also some work started) for some games for Roblox, but never time to really work on them. Because guess what, I am 18++ and I need a stable full time job to survive (currently coding apps and web for some company) and that where the most time goes. This is the rescue and chance for me go fully gamedev.
Only thing that I fear is that small-to-middle established dev studios will take all the spots, because they got the power (time, talent- people, etc.) :((((
I was browsing through the form to see the questions before discussing them with my team, and I accidentally submitted gibberish, is it possible to apply again, and have the other one discarded?
Hopefully, this did not ruin my chances in our future submission.
I think you should consider changing the last page from using arrows to saying âsubmitâ, so more people donât make the same mistake as I, because I thought there were going to be more pages
Very much so interested and will be applying. Thanks Roblox for this opportunity for Developers. Best of luck to everyone!
Are you only accepting games that are extremely large? Or any game in general?
Can someone it 2-3 sentences explain these points:
a) In-game avatars that reflect elements of the userâs platform avatar identity
b) Ability to leverage âMetaverseâ items (i.e., that can be equipped on platform avatars, like the ones you buy in marketplace)
Its not very clear
Man, if only I could do anything other than build. Iâm overflowing with game ideas but canât bleedinâ make any of 'em!
What if youâre 17 and you are turning 18 in 5 months? Will you still be accepted into the program? I donât believe that you would be accepted but I still want to know.
