Introducing the Open Source Studio MCP Server

Even if most people are creating AI-Generated garbage as you say, it’s up to the players who decide how well the game performs

Is this why “Powering Imagination” had to be taken away?
Because now its just “Powering Lifelessness” if a soulless machine generates a soulless game (THAT IS, IF YOU USE AI TO REPLACE A HUMAN/HAVE IT GENERATE A GAME FOR YOU, WHICH PROBS MAJORITY DO)

What does this mean for the built-in assistant?

Will it be discontinued?

Don’t underestimate my hours lost to finding typos, I consider that a work of art.
The most an AI will do for me is predictable autocomplete.

Most people are missing the point… these tools are for assistance not replacement, eventually there going to be a point in time where the future is going to be in the hands of the most imaginative people

Where is the “Imagination” on this?
The prompts that you have to write?

Dear Roblox,

Please click the link below. Then click on any of the requested features, and finally proceed to add it. It would benefit everyone more than this update.

My best regards.

I do not wish to AI generate a game
Instead i would like to make a game on my own and have the possibility of advertising it to at least 7 people without tons of ad credits

Not sure why everyone is hating on this post. This isn’t something EVERYONE is going to use to “generate AI slop”.

This is an open sourced example of an MCP server. It’s a tool that gives more context to LLM’s. Just because AI can generate code, doesn’t mean it’s going to be good code. You still need to know how to build robust systems in order for this to be actually useful to you.

You can’t just say “give me a game that does this this and this”. This is more useful for things like solving issues more efficiently, or helping you understand the structure of a new project you just joined into.

I built an MCP server for myself a month ago (almost identical to this one lol) because it’s semi useful. BUT, it hasn’t magically turned programming into this one step process. It’s just a little more context for an LLM to spam questions at lol

is roblox actually even profiting off of all this AI nonsense if nobody is gonna use it?
this ain’t nvidia, roblox is meant to be a gaming platform, not just a dusty datacenter running on hopes, dreams and random junk foundations (also woah it’s the testyos guy, meanwhile roblox is actually just a datacenter running on hopes, dreams and whatever random junk they could gather together as a foundation)

Sarcasm aside, This is not what I am a fan of. I very wish Roblox prioritizes the demands of the developers that are asking for features that have never been acknowledged, Such as the existence of Emissive Maps. We’ve already been introduced the usage of AI generated Textures, Assistant, AI Assisted Models. Now the open sourcing of this?

This seems more like the reasoning THESE things exist is solely because of a trend that your investors want. Not the community that prefer making good games. We’ve demanded very simple on paper features that most game engines had for many years whilst Roblox still doesn’t have those features. I suggest a switch in direction cause there is already enough AI features as it is.

On top of that. I’m never using these. And I know certainly 80% of genuine developers aren’t going to either. This does not go on par with Back/Front end scripting. If you really want to make it out there creating a game it’s best to learn and script from your own mistakes.

that’s what the AI is being trained with, a lot of other peoples models/imports, which I’m sure they weren’t paid for lol

I haven’t used AI ever to make anything in my games. So updates like these make me feel like they are pouring money into a fire when it could be used on better things that could benefit even experienced developers.

I’m all for using AI tools but is this really the best approach?

i thought roblox said they were trying to reduce exposure to low quality games, so rather than making it easier for bad developers to rapidly make more AI slop - maybe they should increase the devex payout rates to attract more good developers to the platform…
