Introducing Videos in the Marketplace!

While that does make things easier, I would get out of the habit of making a script for every video instance. Use the least number of scripts possible in your game, and use Module Scripts to break up the code.

Although the video limit is 2 right now, I believe…

It is and if you try to set more videos to play it won’t let you, the output will say you can’t.

They may use YouTube to upload videos like the game trailers do.

This update would be great! Especially for like horror and event types of games. The problem is moderation. I wonder how that’s gonna work. I’m assuming that maybe some trusted players would be able to upload videos. Anyways, I’m definitely gonna be using some videos for my future projects!

Only for trusted currently i hope they will let us create own soon

500 robux? That isn’t the set price. It changes.

Bypassed videos are a small price to pay for salvation.

I agree. Plus if you are going to restrict it DevEx is not the way to go. DevEx puts a ridiculous limitation and a UGC program would be much better if they do get overloaded. It gives people a fair chance because you can invite anyone. DevEx you must be popular. Well, popular people will probably be the only ones invited it is still possible for anyone (just possibly rare). Then it should let everyone.

I don’t think it would be that hard to get a new team. Roblox makes a lot of money and with videos it will only get more popular as more features are added. It may start small but should eventually allow everyone (and not take several years).

I think it works exactly like most other instances and how they handle FE. Changes done on the client just won’t replicate to the server.

Completely agreed. There’s so many unfathomable applications for this it would far outweigh any possible liabilities. Once everyone is able to upload videos, one could say that a video sharing platform game is minutes away, it’d blow my mind!

I can’t wait to start uploading my own vids. This will be incredibly useful for cutscenes!

No, but uploading a video, how would that be filtered? I assume frame by frame but won’t that take a while to process?

They would probably have to be reviewed manually or something, doing it frame by frame would leave put some details. For instance flashing between two different frames could produce an image that wouldn’t be detected.
I’m guessing thats why Roblox doesn’t have it open to the public for uploading yet.

I put a video frame in my game “Watch TV”. I can’t wait until anyone can post videos on the marketplace so fans can make or have their own channels on the game by them or I uploading the video.

Well, looks like you could soon be ready for RoTube.
Coming in 2021!

That may not be an option as people can use that to overlay videos to display nsfw content.

Thank you for informing me about who can upload videos. Do know anything about the animations by any chance?
