Introduction thread for new forum members

Hey! I’m new here; it feels amazing to finally be part of DevForum!

My name is TheNightBanana (Banana for short), I’m a 3D modeler and 2D artist. I’ve been working with Blender for just under a year.

I discovered Roblox through a friend of mine in elementary school, and let’s just say that was the best day of my life. I had no idea it would lead to all this - new friends, new hobbies, I’ve finally found my passion. Game development.

  1. How did you find Roblox?
Answer: “I found out when my brother started playing Roblox in 2014, and so i also started playing Roblox as a guest.
Begin 2017 i made my first account since that time the emails were disabled.”

  2. How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
Answer: “I started Developing in 2018, however… I couldn’t call it developing since i only inserted free models. My goal was to create a pirate game… but i couldn’t script which held me off developing for a year. In 2019 i more likely started to build and tried to learn how to script, and like that i found a few jobs and scams.”

  3. Current goals/achievements on the platform
Answer: “I want to expand my knowledge of scripting. Its very poor on the moment, but i won’t give up.”

  4. What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)
Answer: “A month ago i started making my first GFX, but i mainly am a Modeller & Builder, but my main goal is to become a Programmer.”

  5. Anything else you would like to include
Answer: “Yes. I am very excited for my adventure in the Devforum.”

Hey, I’m not new here but I haven’t posted here yet, so here I go. I found Roblox back in 2015 in school. I also saw it on the news and fell in love with the game. I quit for a couple years until 2018-2019, and I am now a project manager, game designer, and scripter. (Depends on the project)

I started development when I realized how much money they earned. Soon after, two of my friends and I made a free model game. Then I started learning scripting, and it became a serious hobby.

My goals are to stay motivated and to allow Roblox to “power my imagination” for a very long time.

Fun fact:
Some of the oldest posts here are listed as followed: (they didn’t have any rules back then and were all in development discussion. Most are by shedletsky)

NOTE: Some of these are not locked, PLEASE do not reply on them, you will bump the topic, and the posts are over 7 years old. Also, it is like a museum, so let us preserve the current state of these posts.

Hey, I’m vibratingclock.
This is not my main account, but I decided to make a fresh account about a week ago, so here I am. I’m 13, and I found Roblox a couple years ago(2018) from my friend at the time. It really hasn’t been that long, but it feels like forever! I got started with development just a few months ago, when I finally got my own computer. I was really interested in developing, but I did not have the resources to get into it. My goal on the platform is to learn how to script and create a successful game. My role in the developer community is not officially “programmer”, because I really don’t know too much about it. I want to learn, though.
Hope to see y’all around!

Ah finally, I get perms to speak in this forum, now time to get started!

I’m new here, but in fact, I have been playing Roblox since I was 7, about 7 years ago. Wow, how time flies! In fact, I’m 14 now, and back then, I used my old account (and forgot the password), and in fact, my current account is 4 years old. I also played as a guest.

Last year, I was hired by a few companies to make buses for them, which actually sparked my interest in studio. In fact, I have put in lots of effort into my bus designs and I really love my work. Currently, I plan on finishing a Merc Citaro and also a OC500LE (O500LE in Aussie).

I really like building and I also have been in the GFX and design sector for some time, and my building is quite realistic if done well, and of course, if you want some images, please PM me.

And that’s all for now, I really hope to enjoy this community with everyone of you here!

Hello there!
So, I’m new to the developing community and it’s an honor for me to be here on the forum.
As I just said, I’m a beginner in almost everything that is related to developing, coding and building in Studio.
I’ll start to improve my coding skills next year as I’ll go to the university but for now, I’m learning on my own by reading posts here or watching tutorials on Youtube, or I just read documentation.

I don’t even know how I found Roblox but I know it was in 2017. At first I was just browsing games and playing famous ones. Then I found out I could make my own. As I want to work in IT later, I though it could be a really good opportunity for me to start on Roblox.

When I started learning and trying things in Roblox Studio, I was struggling to find a good game idea. I started with a random obby map but I quit really fast because I was not convinced by what I was doing. Now I found the motivation to continue what I like even if it’s not always perfect.
So I’m currently working on an animated obby map. And another huge project which is still in my mind is a racing game.
I also want to say that I’m working alone on my games as I cannot pay people to work for me. It’s actually not a real problem as I almost like everything I need to do (building, scripting, etc).

I’m glad to be now a member of the forum, I’m sure my journey here will be really instructive and maybe I’ll get to now other developers, which is always great!

Last thing, English isn’t my first language, so don’t hesitate to correct me if I make mistakes.

Have a nice day everyone!

I found Roblox from Youtube videos on it. I wanted to make a place where me and my friend could hang out and then I eventually started to learn scripting. I want to make a RP game. I am a Programmer.

1 - I found roblox from youtube, I watched a lot of youtube videos when I was younger and ever since roblox was a very fun community and I have learned a lot of new things and I have enjoyed many experiences.

2 - I am not a great developer I try my best but I really enjoyed putting my ideas to a reality.

3 - I hope to one day become a known group owner.

4 - Builder.

5 - Nope!

Hello fellow users.

I found Roblox many years back in 2013, by the recommendation of a contact.

I started making things with free models within two months of joining, I cannot remember precisely when, but I only really started developing my own things recently. I got interested in developing when my brother wished for some help with areas of his game that he did not find fun to create.

My achievements on the platform include creating a showroom showcasing submarine models I have created in Blender, and creating scenes using R6 rigs. My goals on the platform include potentially creating animated scenes instead of my current static ones, and improving my modeling to the point of Roblox games such as Deadline and State of Anarchy.

As partially mentioned in my current achievements, my primary role is 3D modeling, however, I also can do basic animating.

Regarding other small things, I am very interested in realism in games. Not just in their graphics, but also in their gameplay. I am also very interested in ships and boats.

I am glad to have access to the DevForum resource.

Hello! I found Roblox through a friend and I started looking to learn to develop when I saw so many fun games and I wanted to make them. Some goals I have are to create a successful game with a good player base! I do not really specialize in any role I am trying to learn everything at the moment. I am hoping to learn how to design, script, GFX, build, and everything else!

Hi all!
I just wanted to say hello now that I am an official member of the dev forums! I’m primarily a roblox scripter (since 2018), but am always working to better my building skills as well. Thank you all for giving me this opportunity, I look forward to getting to know the community more!

Thanks,
Karateman315

I found ROBLOX in 2016 when I saw PinkSheep playing it and I wanted to try it out.

I started with development when I was planning to build a game with my friends back when I was younger. Major influence from Project Pokemon.

I’m trying to be a great artist.

I think that I would count myself as an Artist.

Nope!

Hello! I guess you can call me blorski, even though that username only began existing when I made my roblox account this year.

I used to play Roblox as a kid, joined in about 2007 or 2008, being about age 7 or 8 respectively. It was my obsession for the next couple of years after that, and I aspired to be a member of the Roblox staff, even if I had no idea what that entailed. When I came back to the platform this year I was ASTOUNDED by how far it has come.

I was inspired to learn about Roblox developing when I realized how much the platform really is capable of, especially now. Not only are there so many tools to help me (someone with no coding experience) create whatever I want, but what really inspires me is the fact that anyone can share their work as a multiplayer, online experience for FREE!

Right now my goals are to continue learning how to code and getting accustomed to it. I have been messing around with blender as well, and imagining possible games I could create in the future. Once I feel that my understanding of everything is solid enough, I plan to make a smaller scale game as a sort of prototype for my creating as a whole.

I’ve heard that the life of a one man dev team is stress city, but that’s where I picture myself right now- jack of all trades, ace of none (yet? :happy1:) I definitely expect to look to others to help iron out any games in the future, and I can’t for the life of me picture myself as a sound designer.

I think I’ve droned on long enough in my answers to the questions, so that’ll be it!

hi, im sillyman0108 but you can just call me sillyman or silly

  1. i found roblox through my cousins in 2014, same day i joined
  2. i got started with development a few months after i joined, my first games were mainly just things i put together with free models though i gradually escalated to learning lua and making proper games, none of which i have finished yet though
  3. my current goal is to finish all games i have and make a positive impact on people
  4. i mainly build though i’m still learning
  5. nope, just have a good day/afternoon/evening/night to whoever may be reading this!
  1. I found Roblox in 2016 on youtube, a YouTuber named DenisDaily.
  2. I first got started with the development in 2020, I met a group named “Popeyes” and some of the developers helped me out building/scripting, it was pretty hard but I got through it and now I sometimes build and sometimes script!
  3. Current Goals in this platform are helping others and hopefully, some members can help me out with stuff I need help with, I’m trying to make a stay alive and steal your time game so hopefully, some people can help me out on this platform!
  4. My role in the developer community is GFX
  5. I don’t anything much to say but thank you for this opportunity!

I’ve playing Roblox for around 8 years now; This account’s been and been for the majority of my time on the platform, I’ve always had an eye for creative games despite not being insanely creative as the ones I see on display, which knocked my morale, but I had a thing for creating games from the start, starting with simply building and importing free models. I loved RPGs so I tried to make them at first, created a game, messed around for an hour, then made a new one at a different time.

I’d been changing values in free models and free scripts to make them seem like they were mine, that’s how I got into scripting, and - then about a year and a half ago I decided to up it a notch and actually learn from tutorials how to script piece by piece so I can devise something by myself. Around 90% of the knowledge I have was assimilated during that 3-month phase, and I’ve been having small phases since.

At a certain period in scripting, you know enough that, with things you’ve never done before, the conceptualization for how to do it’s appearing in your mind like lightbulbs. Like LEGO how they just think up the instructions and go for it.

So I wanted to sell my knowledge, both in building and scripting at the time. But I’ve always been paranoid I wasn’t good enough just yet. That mindset kept up for it a bit, but now I’m at the point where it’s now or really far later.

My role is as an intermediate scripter. And that’s the spruce of this fragment of my narrative. Thanks.
