Introduction thread for new forum members

Welcome to the developer forums, @Astriom! I personally welcome you to this wonderful community. I wish you luck on figuring out blender - I’ll say it’s easier than Studio. I have linked below a helpful resource for getting started.

Best of luck!

I found ROBLOX in 2015 when my friend was telling me about this game, like minecraft. And, being stubborn, I didn’t try it until 2016, when I fell in love with it.
I got started with development in 2016, when my friend told me about obbies and how to make them.
My current goals/achievements and being friends with people that are friends with @berezaa lol.
My current role in the developer community is a builder, as that I am most sufficient at.
Anything else I would like to include is it is an honor to finally be accepted into the developer forums.

  1. How did you find Roblox?
  2. How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
  3. Current goals/achievements on the platform
  4. What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)
  5. Anything else you would like to include

Hey, laughablehaha here. I found Roblox when I was in the library and I saw some girl playing a lego game. I was confused and eventually one of my friends identified it with roblox. Blablablabla and then I started developing as a way to enjoy myself at first, and then realized its potential. My goals on this platform is to hopefully use it to pay for my education and make my life better for my family. In the developer community, you can call me a scripter, builder, 3D modeler, graphics artist, filmmaker, etc. I am proficient in all of these areas and if you need anything from me then I would be glad to help!

Hello-hello!
Let me try…

How did you find Roblox?
How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
Current goals/achievements on the platform

It was an annoying 20 times repeated add in a flash-game I tried. I just joined to check what it was all about, a few months later I returned to check Roblox as a development platform. I am about to announce my first project… Pst! It is not really a game :slightly_smiling_face:

What is your role in the developer community?

Just a lonely wolf…

Anything else you would like to include

It seems like there is nothing special in my intro-post… But I am really open to any questions. I hope that when I announce my first project, I will receive a few million robux.

Welcome to the DevForums @moxiproxi, @laughablehaha, and @BurgerBurner! I wish y’all the best of luck with your ambitious goals. I have linked a thread for getting started here.

Hello! I’m Asen, a kid who finds joy in programming. Nice to meet you all!

I became familiar with Roblox at my friend’s house. When I arrived there, I saw my friends playing Prison Life on Roblox. I got the opportunity to play with them since they had other laptops in the house. That day, I had an amazing experience. I was very interested in Roblox and started spending hours on the game each day.

I didn’t know anything about Roblox Studio until a few months went by. That’s when I got into scripting. I would make my own private games for testing out my scripts. I mainly started by copying and modifying code. If I wanted to change something and was unsure of how to do it, I would search for tutorials on YouTube. By doing this, I got used to Roblox Lua, and got better and better to the extent that I am now able to write my own code.

The biggest thing that is both a goal and an achievement for me on the Roblox platform is the fun. The main reason as to why I spend hours scripting on my private games is because I love it and I enjoy it.

I also have a little experience with JavaScript, which I’ve made several Discord bots with.

Thank you for reading my introduction! I look forward to taking part in this lovely community.

Welcome to the DevForums @serenso! Developing is fun, I hope you continue to create interesting things. I have linked a helpful resource for getting started on the forums. You likely read this in your induction message.

1. How did you find Roblox?
I found Roblox roughly in 2013, but made an account in 2015!
2. How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
I’ve always loved building, so I would try and sculpt objects in my house to help practice.
3. Current goals/achievements on the platform

  • Co-founder of the second biggest Rome
  • CEO of my own “Cafe”
  • Developer of the biggest Korea group

4. What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)
I’m a builder, and also know html and some css. I love to do graphic design, though it can be frusturating at times.

Hello, everyone! I’m glad to finally be a member of the Fourms after all of this time.

When I joined ROBLOX, it was for the games. I still do play them often, and have a lot of fun doing so.
Building games have always been one of my favorite types. Sure, Studio building has its perks, but sometimes it’s nice to make things in the company of others. (Plus, it’s easier to show off there :P)

In the past, I’ve done some experiments with Studio, but I haven’t worked on anything serious until recently. Usually I do building or scripting, but I also occasionally do art for my games.
I don’t have very much to show for my work yet, but my current project is Buildin’ Boats, a free-roam game about exploring the world in a boat of your own design.

Now that I’m a member of the Fourm, I’ll try to be active where I can. I’m looking forwards to learning and growing as a game dev with the help of you all!

  • Hi there, name’s Geomaster
  • I’ve been lurking on roblox for close to 11 years after being introduced to it by a neighbor
  • I started ‘developing’ the instant I arrived on the platform and learned via freemodels and egregious browsing of the API on the wiki, which has changed in both form and function multiple times
  • I have a basic and compact understanding of most common coding languages and I’m not very ambitious about creating a name for myself on the platform, I just want to make fun games
  • I would definitely consider myself a programmer - but flying solo has forced me to dabble in several aspects of game creation and design
  • I like bacon, likely more than you

Welcome to the community @Geomaster! Love the avatar, but I insist my love for bacon far surpasses yours. Maybe we’ll have to have a bacon eating contest some time ;D. I have linked a thread that might help you start figuring out how this site functions. Feel free to read or re-read it!

Have a great day!

Hey, I am Teddy (you may call me Tedi), a proud Roblox developer.
I started to develop before a few years, I actually started to develop at Roblox from a year and more! It was great. Also, I did like to say it is amazing for me to be here, a part of the DevForum of Roblox. I am able to script, I am a UI designer, also I can script and build. My goal right now is to make Roblox safer (somehow). I am a well-experienced GFX maker. :grinning:

Welcome to the DevForums @teddyHV11! You seem like a well-rounded developer. If you want to achieve the goal you mentioned, I suggest working on making anti-exploit scripts. Linked below is a thread that provides some useful insight about how this website works. Feel free to check it out if you haven’t already!

Kind Wishes!

The way I found ROBLOX was back in 2016 when I watched a video on the video sharing site YouTube. I wanted to try the game for myself so I then went to the website an installed it. I enjoyed
playing the game, so I decided I would keep it.

I began my development on ROBLOX when I began with my first real “game” that was actually functional known as “The Resort”. I mostly watched tutorials and used free models, until my second game known as “Turtle Hunt”. In that game I did a lot more work creating the game. Today, some of my most recent games are named “Braniac” and “Free Draw”. I make some games in my group named TeamChase, but also some on my account. ROBLOX development was the first real programming and coding I ever did.

My current goals on ROBLOX are to create a professional looking and feeling game, similar to those on the front page of ROBLOX. Once that is accomplished I might start wanting to translate the game text/audio into other languages for maximum immersion.

My role in the ROBLOX developer community both as a programmer and a builder, but mostly a programmer. I enjoy my role, as it lets me create fun experiences both for myself and for others. I have yet to find my big hit game though.

I am glad to be a part of this wonderful community and I look forward to working with all of you in the near future. Thank you for reading my introduction.

Welcome, @chasedig1! Seems like you’ve put a lot of work into development, nice! I linked below a thread that can help you get acquainted with this community. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Sounds like a good game! If possible, can you provide pictures? I’d love to see how it is coming so far!

Before I introduce myself, I would like to point out this current topic before continuing:

I have witnessed some developers’ accounts being deleted from Roblox. One for doing shady things (which I won’t be talking about in this topic), and anon74648183, for creating ‘Misleading Content’. Now, I don’t know any of these two creators, but I have been behind the scenes learning about Roblox Development throughout over a year, and I would like to know if this type of uncommunication will come more often as the future comes; Is it worth it to continue learning how to create games in this platform if the chance of getting banned/deleted is still there? If that’s the case, I would preffer not to continue-on spending time trying to create something I know everyone will enjoy because of possible mistakes or past-problems. Yet, there is a chance that many (including me) feel threatened by these late-news. It has been about one week or so since these events begun, so it could all be POSSIBLY fixed later on… Still, I worry if the time I will put here will just be all wasted and thrown away.

Now that that info is there, let me present myself;

I am currently a background dev (not that that is a speciality, but what I mean by that is that I am currently working on projects which I have not published yet, nor plan to do soon.) I have been learning Roblox for about 1 year and 2 months - mostly coding, parts of animation, and nothing at-all about map creation - and I have really enjoyed it so far.

Future Plans:
I have multiple projects I would like to present to everyone, but the knowledge required for them is still being built-on; You will have to wait for them, but I bet you will love them

Currently Working On:
Well, that’s personal, for now. However, I will make sure the first game I launch is a warm-welcome for everyone to know me better.

Am I Going to Be A Good Inclusion to the Roblox Community?
Of course I will! Although, I hope my old-habits of causing chaos in games will not ruin this career. I guess time will tell.

Have You Done Anything to Help Another Developer or the Roblox Community?
Nope. As I said before, I am currently working in the background. Meaning that I have not attempted to communicate with any other developer, but I still play and learn on the platform AND hope I have more communication with the community in the future.

Any Clues About the Projects?
Nope. I would love to give some, but I don’t want to ruin it… Alright! Here is one! Most of them (if not all) will have some type of backstory. I really enjoy some good old stories in games, and I have seen that that is not the case in Roblox games; not all have even a piece of story, it’s just the game by itself. That is not saying that I hate or dislike any of the current games, I lov’em all! But I would like to include that “theme” when I join in with the rest.

Anything I Woud Like to Add Before I Go Back to the Shadows?
I just hope I’m not “wasting” time by learning and not publishing. I don’t want to put out something that is unfinished and unpolished. I want it to be GOOD!

Hi! My name is Chris and I love to script as well as build. I found Roblox when I was at a very young age, I believe around 7-8. Not sure anymore. I found it when I saw my sister playing on it and I was interested because I wanted to take one of those Take a drivers test games.
( Which, should totally come back in style sometime soon, cause they were so good! )

How I got started with development
I got started with development when I was just messing around in studio with another friend. He said he’s earned many, many robux and friends and I was like “Oh my god, you can earn a currency. oh heck yeah!”. So, I started to build and script.

My current goals?
My current goals are to give free games and models to the community of Roblox instead of having those pesky, annoying restrictions of gamepasses worth 1500 robux just rip you off for small things. I want the community to have access to everything instead of paying for it.

What roles am I included in?
I currently have many roles, including: UI Design, Programming, and Building. The one I am most into is Programming.

I feel like I should have much more here compared to other replies >.< sorry if I left something out lol.
