I am an old Roblox member that’s been building trains since August of 2008. So I’ve been through the train community for a long time that I am now glad I am finally promoted to have posting privileges in the Dev Forms.
How did you find Roblox?
I first became aware of Roblox through the YouTube videos by an old user named Fleskjerta. Then I registered on Roblox when I found my way through a Lego train fan site and used Roblox as a better design software than Lego Digital Designer.
How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
Started with some free models for that used what most of us in the train community used to call Roblox Standard Gauge of the old Roblox style trains that used wheels that look like ski’s. Eventually I found a model that interested me and improved the details and accuracy on it. Learning on how to build on Roblox, I can then build my own trains using the existing system and provide content to other community members.
Current goals/achievements on the platform
Providing quality content to the Roblox train community. From 2014 to mid 2018, I’ve provided a number of free models of trains much like how you can get each rolling stock, locomotive, and pieces of track like from a hobby shop. Speaking of model trains, I’ve once received a legit comment on my free model on a train car that I’ve released in my early years. The comment went that this player was happy that I was providing trains for free as he couldn’t afford model trains. This made me glad to hear this inspiring moment to have a reason to have someone satisfied for something we can’t afford or wish we can have. A similar inspiring statement can be said when I’ve provided lots of free content for players to create their own railroads or communities. This statement was when someone said they “grew up” using my models, this makes me feel accomplished and have a purpose to be part of the train community.
What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)
From my early years with and on to 3/4 of the 2010’s decade. I’ve built countless locomotives, rolling-stock, and tracks for the United Rail system, an evolution of the old Roblox Standard Gauge dating prior to 2012. Since Fall 2018, on my 10th year of Roblox. I’ve began working for a group called Rails Unlimited to provide trains and other development support while having my first DevEx cashout.
Anything else you would like to include
Around 2012, me and a group of friends worked together on a game called Robloxia Live Steamers. A group and game focused on miniature train ride used on some public parks. I had noticed that Shedlesky, Telamon at the time, favorite the game. It would take me until RDC 2019 to finally hear about his interest about the game and I’m that glad he too enjoyed trains.
Speaking of RDC 2019, it was my first visit to see other Roblox developers and a few other friends I’ve known for years. Before RDC 2019, I’ve attended to Houston Mini-Maker Faire 2014.
