Introduction thread for new forum members

Hello fellow Robloxians, here’s a little to know about me.

My name is Spixls, a long term developer. I have been developing for 4 years now and it has been a great experience. I started as a builder on moved on as a clothing designer and then into programming.
I love to build and I will continue to build and gain skill. I have achieved 2000 players on my “Speed Simulator” game.

I recently got expected onto the developer forum and was just promoted to a member, Thank you!
I am really excited to continue and make some great progress, I am so pleased that I was given this opportunity.

I wish all the best to all ROBLOX’s new developers!

Hello! I am comsurg, and I love making games! One of my friends told me about Roblox and how it’s cool, so I decided to make an account. I played a lot of games because I didn’t know how to make them. Then someone told me about Roblox Studio. I tried making a skiing game, then I wanted to make more games. I am currently working on a VR game where you can hang out with your friends and play some games. I am also a programmer.

Hello! My name is P1X3L_K1NG, and I wanted to say thank you for accepting me into the Developer Forum!

It has always been my dream to make my own games for other people to play. When I discovered Roblox, I thought it was just another game. But when I learned that all the games on Roblox were created by people just like me, I instantly starting watching tutorials on YouTube. Because of Roblox I am now able to make my own games for other people to enjoy!

My goal on Roblox is to make games that people will enjoy, and to turn my Roblox development skills into an actual career.

Thanks again for accepting me into the Developer Forum

1/How did you find Roblox? My son was playing it.
2/How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform? Started trying to start a clothing empire, made at least 800 T-Shirts and numerous shirts and pants. Started developing games to show off my clothes and seemed to spend an awful lot of time trying to guess Shirt/TShirt graphics asset numbers from the basic item asset numbers (and keeping such in a little black book, good thing they didn’t resemble phone numbers, I guess). My best time with the clothing was when Roblox was migrating away from Tix and people were spending them before the expiry deadline.
I’ve pretty much given up on clothes now, except when designing game-specific items, I think my best hope is to pursue ‘premium payments’ in the future (ie from premium members game immersion time).
3/ Current goals/achievements on the platform. I’m developing ‘Netball’ games, and have the goal of producing the number one netball game.
4/ What is your role in the developer community? Programmer/Scripter plus the occasional making of simple models/maps.
5/ My current incarnation is Tin_Rat, since roughly the start of the Chinese (new) year.

In 2014, I got to know about Roblox from my nephews. Back then, I really liked the fact that just from opening up the website, I could discover all of these new experiences that I had never heard of before. After playing on the platform for half a year, I discovered Roblox Studio. I was truly amazed by this tool with which I could create my own custom places for others to experience!

It didn’t turn out great, since I had never done anything with programming or game development before. I was struggling with the language (Lua) and just couldn’t use all of the tutorials I found on the internet to build a solid understanding of programming and Roblox Studio. So I quit Roblox development.

Somewhere in 2017, I started getting obsessed with programming, but because I just couldn’t work with Roblox Studio, I started using other tools. I installed Unity and in just under two months, I had learnt to use C#, Blender and Unity’s environment. I then quit using Unity mid in 2019.
I immediately installed Visual Studio 2019 and learnt C++ (this beast of a language took me 4 months to even understand the simplest of code).

And then, I started learning OpenGL. The government in my country had initiated a lockdown, so i had more time to work with OpenGL and C++.

But then I looked back at Roblox. It had been 6 years since I had tried to develop something on the platform, and something in me was urging to try it again. I wouldn’t struggle with a lot of the basic concepts because of the 6 years I had spent in learning how to program and use Blender.

So I tried it again and this time I actually understood it. The concepts I learnt from using C++ allowed me to forge a better understanding of Lua and the concepts I learnt from using OpenGL allowed me to forge a better understanding of CFrames.

And here I am now, I joined the forum about a week ago and today i got the Member rank allowing me to introduce myself here. I’m currently working on an RPG and I am loving the updates they’ve brought to the development tools. I hope that I can become a real member of this awesome developer community soon and take part in conversations that are relevant for everyone!

to make an exspansive anime fighting game

  1. I found Roblox from my cousin and have gone through lots of accounts.
  2. I got started by finding a uncopylocked place and inserting lots of free models, of course heh I no longer use free models or uncopylocked places.
  3. my goals are to make a team to create a successful game.
  4. I am a beginner for everything I can do everything but it is not professional
  5. I would like to work with you guys on a project hopefully in the future!

I found out Roblox back in 2014 I didn’t really understand much about the platform then. I started Development small I was pretty young then and only made games out of free models but I was learning never the less.
I want to run my own studio now and I’m doing side jobs to earn the robux cause I don’t really care to buy it, and I hope to build quality games with my team! I personally have a large amount of potential in all areas of development but I always have room for improvement (especially scripting). I hope to become a better Dev

Hello! As most introductions here, I am a new member of the ROBLOX DevForum.
I do not know how to script, therefore I do know how to build! I am not yet a « professional builder » but I am practicing and slowly getting better.
My username is quite hard so pronounce, I know, so just call me by my nickname! It’s Maggie.
I’ll be your french builder on the forum. Take care of me!
I hope you can all help me get better at building with amazing advices.
Have a good day/night.

Hello! My name is Michael and I’m really happy I got invited to the Forum! I got into developing by seeing all the cool things everyone would make, I feel really stupid posting this comment because I’m currently banned for 3 hours due to me posting loud audio :stuck_out_tongue: Anyways, thanks for letting me in! My current role is scripter, Current goals I want to be a great developer.
I found roblox probably via youtube, I don’t actually remember.

Hey, my name is myoldfriendsaredjs. I found Roblox in 2011 when my 2nd grade friend introduced me to it, and I started using Studio not too long after that (although most of my games at the time were just a bunch of free models slapped together)

I don’t really have any goals or achievements, but I guess I could say I’d really like to make a nice showcase someday. Either that, or successfully revive one of those 2011/2012 front page games that got lost to the test of time. That being said, I’m a builder, but I do have some basic experience scripting as well.

Uh, I really like showcases from 2013-2015, before many of the new graphics features were added. I’ve always enjoyed that aesthetic far more than the hyper-photo-realistic aesthetic that a lot of Roblox games seem to go for nowadays

Hey, I’m boomt13. I found roblox around 2013 when my brother introduced a game called “roadblocks” that ended up here, lol.

How I got started? I got started when I first checked out the Studio that roblox was bundled with, and found it to be interesting.

Goals? I just want to get better at general scripting which is why I’ve been checking the devfourms (and it’s a pleasure to be promoted)

Role in developer community? Programmer

Other stuff? Easily demotivated :frowning:
