Introduction thread for new forum members

hello, hello! I am completely new here, and also very new at using the studio. I’m glad I got accepted here, I’m looking forward to learn with everyone!

I found ROBLOX through an ad I believe, years ago.

I became interested to develop after I saw avatars being animated. I love animating, so I wanted to try and do my own animations.

my goal is to have decent knowledge and experience in animating, maybe scripting, and a little bit of building. basically a little bit of all, lol.

I enjoy building, making GFX, and overall just random stuff, lol.

I am just a casual developer, and I make things for fun.

Hello! I’m FarlandsMyth and I am honored to be finally a member of this forum! Honestly, there is so much support going on here!
1. I discovered Roblox a little while ago, watching YouTube, I stumbled upon it.
2. I started development on the platform because I always have so many ideas on what games to make that maybe people would enjoy playing with me.
3. My current goal is to release my Demo version of “Monster Hunter”. The game is a Singleplayer RPG kind-ysh and talks about the main character with a sad background story (related to monsters). I want to make a game where your choices matter, on how the NPC’s will interact with you.
4. I’m very good at programming and I’ll continue doing that.
5. I hope to be useful to others and an active contributor whenever I can.

Hello, I’m LitTurtleMan and I am ready to start my journey throughout the forums!

1. I found Roblox back in 2015 when youtubers like DenisDaily, Dantdm, and more started playing,
so I checked it out as well.

2. I first started developing back in June of 2019 but I really didn’t start developing until March of 2020. I started out with building a club with a low amount of visitors but I taught myself more and more until I considered myself an average builder.

3. My current goals are to try and learn more skills so I can improve on what I know now!

4. My role in the development community is a Builder.

Hi, I’m Mangopath. I found Roblox over a decade ago, hearing about it through some friends, and after weeks as playing as a guest, I finally signed up on an account, which unfortunately fell for a scam. I was never able to get it back, but it didn’t have much on it anyways and I just made a new one.

I always had an interest in making things on Roblox, but not necessarily games, being able to show my friends what I made or later, to make places or graphics for my groups. I loved playing the old school building games on roblox, where you had complete creative freedom to build and use your imagination. I took a long break from Roblox around when they started remodeling everything and removed the old forums. I felt like the new website had no soul or community. Recently I’ve come back on this account with the intent to start a career as a game developer and maybe give users the same joyful feel I had playing games on Roblox so long ago.

I tried making a game this summer before school started but I failed spectacularly as the scope was way too big for one dev and especially for a new dev like me, and I didn’t put in anywhere near enough time to make anything to begin with. Maybe one day I can revisit it and create it with some help. But now, I have learned and have just started working on a game with a much smaller and doable scope for one dev. I hope to get it out by this summer, with an alpha version in a month or two.

My role in the community I would say is mostly as a game designer, but I do and am interested in all the other development roles. For my project right now, I kind of have to do all the roles, as it is with having only one dev. I have significant experience with graphic designing in and outside of Roblox, and I’ve spent a long time building things in studio before. My main worry is programming, but I’ve learnt the fundamentals through my old project, and the devforums are a great place for me to learn more and help others learn more, especially now that I can finally help others or ask for help on uncovered topics since I’m a member. Currently I’ve been prototyping with scripts to see if my idea for a game is even feasible with the current engine.

Hello my name is jimmy and here are my answers
1.I don’t very remember, Probably from Youtube.I was very young when I signed up(2015/2016)
2.I like exploring a lot and when I saw that I can make games I WAS SO EXCITED
3.My current goals are to Achieve 10000 total visits. And my achievements on this Platform are me Finally knowing How to code, People liking my Games ect.
4.A Programmer
5.Hm… I like Ramen and Pizza

Hello everybody, I hope that you are all well in these strange times.

I’m here to make my introduction, I have been here for about a year actively seeking knowledge but have only felt that now is the right time to introduce myself into the community.

My name is Guy, 31 years of age, from England.
I have a beautiful wife (who’s age she would prefer I didn’t mention) and a son aged 5.
My current full-time occupation is ‘Infanteer’ in the British Army, (This means front line Soldier).
I have spent 11 years, traveling all around the world in strange and exotic locations.
After being a keen MMORPG player over many, many years, old school and new, my son started to play Roblox a few years ago and always wanted me to play with him. As an adult, it was hard for me to get enthusiastic about some of the games he would play. This was until we both discovered World Zero Alpha. It was ‘Alpha’ but already showcased what the Roblox platform was capable of. This stirred some excitement in me.
At the same time as my son and I found out about this amazing game, I was deep into the third year of my self-development journey. I have devoured books upon books about business, Leadership, strategy, money, marketing, and habits.
The question that was most frequently asked in all these books was about ‘Your Passion in life’, and at this point, it was obvious to me that my destiny was not to be a soldier forever.

Go back to January last year, I begin researching, and consuming every bit of content I could get my hands on, books, GDC, researching why the most successful games in the MMORPG category were that way.
This opened my mind up to so much and excited me so much. The passion and energy I had found from this was intoxicating. I knew there and then that I had to make a game and Roblox was the platform I’d use to do it. Whatever it would take, however long it would take, whoever I had to become (Providing I could make it fit with my core values).
That’s when I changed my mindset from just being a Soldier to a part-time game developer as well.

Compared to this, nothing was ever so easy and provided so much enjoyment for me. Being ambushed several times in Afghanistan did not provide me with half of the excitement and genuine enthusiasm that building, learning, and trying to solve problems on the Roblox platform has.

I planed, and my house became awash with about 10 large blue boards with all my beautiful mind style design all over the place. This sent my wife up the wall, as you can imagine.

March time 2020 and the UK is sent into full-time lockdown, for me, this is the opportunity to make the most of the extra time at home. I took full advantage, built a schedule, and got to work.
Months would go by with small amounts of progress here and there, learning all the while a million ways not to do something.
Then @Crythem Rpg kit 2.0 came out. This was an amazing resource for a new developer like myself to learn, use, and grow the kit to make the game of my dreams.
The plans were set and the base of the game was premade, (The Minecraft story inspired that decision).

Over the next few months, I was in and out of work, and every spare second was spent learning, developing, and spending all of my spare money on hiring professionals to help.

If you have got this far then I salute you. That leads me to now, the game is out in its Alpha state.
I read this book recently called, ‘The lean startup’ and it went in-depth about why you should release the Alpha state in its raw form and then build the community from there. So that is exactly what I’m doing. Slow, steady, and methodically advertising, engaging with the small community I’ve amassed since the 26th of December 2020.
In what was possibly the worse year of many lives, I have managed to have the best year of my life.
There are 10,000 hours more work to do to make this a game that is worth people spending money on
and about a couple of thousand worth of investment left so that we can achieve the full, multi-platform release but I will never stop until I am a full-time game developer with a small team who are much smarter than me.

That’s my story, thanks for taking the time to read about my absolute joy. Thank you to Roblox for making a game engine with such usability that empowers a person like me to make a go of making my passion a realistic means of earning a living.

Hope you all have the best year and some exciting updates coming to the engine this year.
Oh, and I’d love for you to test my game and let me know any bugs or just wish to support.

Heyo!

I found Roblox from a friend a couple of years ago. Playing medieval tycoon lol. I started trying to make my own game like a year after that but of course, it was never good.

I have a current game ongoing called, “Hero’s Ascend”. I’ve made a game trailer for it a while back but since it’s a 2 man team it’s taking a long time cuz of the timezone difference between my friend. I really hop I finish the game and build my own community

I am a builder currently, but I’m trying to learn how to model on blender as well.

I will be forever grateful to Roblox. It introduced me to a lot of friends that are close to me now and wish I will be able to find more people over time. So many stories everyone has and it’s really intriguing. So many talents that makes me go woah like 100% of the time.

Hello everyone! I am CeaseHerSalad and I am actively achieving to enhance my skills with ROBLOX Studio and striving to learn more and more about all things development!

I first started playing ROBLOX in 2010, as it was recommended to me by a close friend, but decided to change accounts in 2012 because username changing wasn’t a thing back then. I originally got started developing on ROBLOX by working on passion projects with friends that I’ve met in the ROBLOX community. Most of the games I have worked on have been mere contributions, but I still feel like I have come a long way.

My current goals on the platform include enhancing my knowledge and skills regarding ROBLOX Studio as I stated above; however I currently have a part time job with an after school program teaching passionate STEM students about Game Design on the ROBLOX Platform. I have been working with the program for almost 2 months now, but I now am more eager than ever to contribute to the growth of the platform by encouraging eager, young members of the ROBLOX community about making games on ROBLOX by becoming a devforum member!

My primary roles in the developer community, in the past, have mainly included building and game design. However, I plan to broaden my horizon by learning about new topics in lua scripting and possibly UI design in the future.

As a final wrapping up statement, I just wanted to mention again about how grateful I am to be here! I hate to be cliché about it, but I am just super excited to grow and improve myself along with the ROBLOX platform growing itself!

Introduction

I first found Roblox in 2017, and I have just recently started developing games, as I wanted to see how much time and effort goes on the front page of the games page! I watched and read a bunch of tutorials, and used Roblox’s API reference to get me started!

Some achievements that I have made is that I have helped a few people, along with creating my first game! I am currently learning programming, building, and I am going to attempt learning UI design soon!

I hope in the near future, I can classify myself as an “advanced” scripter, and maybe even an “intermediate” builder and UI designer! :happy3:

1. How did you find Roblox?
I found Roblox in 2012 when my Brother was playing the game, I thought it looked cool and decided to sign myself up.

2. How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
I started this year! I found myself enjoying watching speed builds and such and decided to test Roblox Studio out. I then found GFXs and noticed I really like doing them and it was something that made me motivated. I’m still learning and finding every way to improve every day!

3. Current goals/achievements on the platform.
I’m not quite sure, maybe learning to do GFXs.

4. What is your role in the developer community?
I am a GFX Designer and I often make GFXs for friends or customers. I make things such as thumbnails, icons & ads.

I found Roblox on the internet one day because my friend wanted me to play with him.
The reason why I started to develop my ideas on Roblox is because I’m a huge nerd and I always like learning AND i also rly like computers and code!
I don’t have any goals in mind… I just wish to create my ideas and see how people like it!
I have no role because I’m still not good with anything really, but I’m trying to get good in every field.
Now to the (more) personal stuff… I’m a guy who is trying to get good at (as previously said) everything basically and that includes Modeling (Blender), Building, Art, Coding, Music and brainstorming for ideas so yeah that’s me!
Also, I tend to overthink stuff (not like not seeing the answer to some things but like seeing too many answers and having a hard time what to pick) so I tend to be slow at making stuff (even this text)…

Hello! I’m PHSYCHOTICS, or Cindy. I’ve been playing Roblox ever since it was introduced to me by a friend in 2014. After coming across several Roblox clothing design tutorials/videos on youtube, I tried out designing, and fell in love with it. I currently design for a few groups, and I hope to someday own my own successful clothing group on Roblox. As I said previously, I am a clothing designer. I’m so excited to be on the developer forum and can’t wait to meet the community here!

Hey! I’m TheBxconHairedNoob and I’m now a member of the Developer Forum.

I just wanted to say a simple hello to everyone. So, I started developing on roblox in 2019 on my other account. I’m still pretty new to developing so I’ve been using the DevForum as a resource to help me. I’m working on a game right now and I still don’t know what to name it… I’ll think of that eventually. I’m a Scripter, Builder, Artist ( Somewhat a beginner ) and that’s pretty much it. Thanks and that’s all.

Hi! My name’s Rim, and I’ve been programming since I was around 9 years old. I transferred to Lua from bubble script when I was 11-12.

I found Roblox through my cousin, whose username is now DEVIANCY, in 2014. I merely remember anything with my older accounts, as this one was created later in summer of 2016; some may say that’s when one would gain mental storage.

How I got “started” is hard to explain. I guess I just opened Studio one day and… this happened. I had a lot of inspirational figures to look up to then, such as Mimi_Dev, KardashianKlan, cascrocs, and even PlasticMother.

My current goal is to create a large influential well-known group, such as a runway or a restaurant. I’m also working on a small project that should be done in a month or so if I work on it during a break of some sort.

As for my developer roles, I’m basically everything you could think of off the top of your head. Programmer, builder, modeler, composer, animator, clothing designer, UI designer, GFX creator, artist – I could go on.

Anywho, I’m rambling out of excitement due to being so recently given the “member” permission. I can’t wait for what lies ahead of me. Bye for now.
