Nice to meet you too!

Welcome!
Welcome!
Welcome to Roblox Developer Forum. I am also kinda new. I hope you enjoy!
Yo! I’m BuilderBudCarl.
How I found Roblox
I found out about Roblox while roaming around the internet for videos
How I got into development
I was in this war-clan on one occasion and asked “Why don’t ya’ll make an actual game”, and was then told that scripting was their main barrier. I checked out little articles and tried replicating Borderlands as a first project. The biggest hit came after playing Roblox Adventure: The Rise of Nobeesi, which made me think “Dang, I gotta get into making games”.
Current goals on Roblox
I hope to finish a couple o’ interesting projects within the summer, as well as try implementing what I study on Roblox somehow.
Role
I’m a Programmer/Scripter
Welcome!!
Hey guys! I’m new to the forum but I’ve been on Roblox for 10 years, so this post might be a little long. Feel free to jump to the end for the tl;dr if you don’t want my whole life story
How did you find Roblox?
I joined Roblox in 2008 after a Google search. I’ve always been a fan of sandbox platforms and Roblox is the mother of all sandboxes. Just enough support and built-in functions to make it more accessible than the usual game engines, but still an immense amount of freedom and room.
How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
I joined to create games, but picking up scripting was slow for me. I just messed about with existing scripts and tinkered until I’d eventually taught myself enough to write my own scripts. I didn’t actually discover the wiki and official API until mid 2011. After discovering these I made a relatively decent bus simulator, and as more features like GUIs and lighting were added to Roblox, I learnt more and more about programming by implementing them into my game.
As I got better at programming, and started my GCSEs (UK) I took a course in Computing, which introduced me to website development. I drifted away from game development and became a freelance web developer for a few years, making websites for companies, charities and individuals. I still take up the occasional web project if I feel like it. I soon got bored of constantly dealing with annoying clients, and wanted to make things for me. The money was great but I’d rather be poor and make things I want to make, than be rich and miserable making things that don’t excite me.
Current goals/achievements on the platform
My goal now is to make a successful game that I’m proud of. In the past I’ve been limited by ability and struggling to find some good builders to work with, but after a nearly 5 year hiatus I’m back and more determined than ever. I want to make things that I like and that I’d show off to my friends and family.
What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)
I’m primarily a programmer, but with my experience in front end web development I picked up a few UI design skills too. So I make all my own GUIs and scripting within my games, and I occasionally do a bit of plugin development. I’d like to share more of what I do on YouTube so I’m starting to get into streaming and video making a bit more too.
Extra information
I used to be a wiki writer on my old account, Jelly134. Since they internalised the wiki, and now removed the forum, I’ve found it hard to discover other talented developers, and also to be able to help the community in every way I can. That’s why I applied to the devforum.
tl;dr: I’m a programmer with experience in web development and game dev here on Roblox. I do GUIs too. I’m not great at building or modelling, so builders hmu! I love helping the community and will probably make more useful plugins and YouTube tutorials in the future
