1. How did you find Roblox?
Back in 2009, my friend, who has long since disappeared, introduced me to some long forgotten paintball knock-off game, and ever since, I have been experimenting with all things Roblox.
2. How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?
Back when build mode was a thing, I messed around constantly with the “Happy Home In Robloxia” starter place. Since then, I’ve moved into edit mode (which is now the only mode) and moved on from editing other peoples’ content and creating my own. I used to work with groups to get content made, from large maps, to small map accessories, programming, UI, etc., but, again, have moved on from the group-scene. Almost three years ago, I began development on a game and decided that everything we made had to be done in-house. This was when use of other peoples’ content (from Roblox, or not) was loosely moderated so it was revolutionary at the time, but is necessary today. It’s proven to be a very difficult process as there are only two of us in total, but I take care of everything with the exception of programming, which is about the other 40% of the game anyway.
3. Current goals/achievements on the platform
I’d like to create a game, after the one I am currently developing, where it maintains the feeling of “this is Roblox” but also feels like it’s not, if that even makes sense. This is not my implication that Roblox is a bad thing, but some people do not see Roblox as a development platform and see the games as linear and have low replayability (not my words, but paraphrasing what a few friends said), they see it strictly as a children’s video-game. I aim to remove that label completely from Roblox.
4. What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)
I can do just about anything, but what I enjoy doing most are building, modeling (outside of Roblox in 3DS MAX), SFX design, and music composition. I am also good with project management which is not a common thing on Roblox, but is basically the person (or group of people) who compile a game and make sure everything fits cohesively, as well as makes plans for future content.
5. Anything else you would like to include
I’m currently looking for a programmer to finish what my co-developer started as he has quit development on the game I’m currently working on. Whoever does this may also have to pick up the UI Design as well as the rest of the game is a bit heavy and I’m a bit out of touch with it as of right now. For more information, shoot me a DM!
