Hi,
I recently just released a new “100 player” type game, and am considering to invest 5k robux into advertising/sponsoring it. 100 Player Hexagon Tower - Roblox
But i’m still kind of stuck thinking if it’s actually WORTH the 5k considering that this is only a side project (to get more funds for my actual main project).
I’ve researched this quite a bit, and found out that 5k isn’t quite much to advertise/sponsor a game but there were some special cases where advertising a game with low amounts of budgets actually help the game get on roblox’s algorithm.
social media will be your best friend with advertising on a budget (guessing there needs to be 2 or more players to play the game theres no indication on that btw)
5,700 Robux (20 ad credits) is the minimum required to launch an ad campaign. If you set it to “maximize play,” you can potentially attract over 100 CCU to your game until the campaign ends.
Once the campaign ends, your CCU will either stabilize around 30 or drop back to 0, depending on whether the game is engaging enough to retain players. If you successfully stabilize around 30 CCU, Roblox may recommend your game at any time if it has good enough stats, which could increase your CCU by a lot.
However, setting 100 players per server may not be the best idea, as it can lead to significant lag due to increased network, memory, and physics usage, which may cause players to leave. 30 players per server should be enough to keep the game fun and competitive without reducing performance.
I think you should improve your game’s lighting a little, and then spend that robux to advertise your game on something like tiktok or youtube. I really don’t think relying on roblox’s ad system is a great idea. You can pay people to make ads for your game. I think 5k robux is great to sponsor a game like this though, because roblox keeps pushing colorful games like this. Overall, I think it’s worth it but don’t rely on roblox’s ad system.
Edit: you can also make clickbait thumbnails to attract more players
Relying on Roblox’s ad system is probably the best way to make a game popular, even with a minimal budget. I have sponsored 2 games with just the minimum of 20 ad credits, one in mid 2024 and the other in early 2025, and both have significantly growing. The first reached around 400 CCU, and the second reached around 1,200 CCU.
There is no point in using clickbait thumbnails. The goal is to attract players who may like and regularly play your game, not to lure random people with fake thumbnails who will leave immediately once they realize the game doesn’t match the expectations.
Using misleading thumbnails damages your game’s analytics and reduces its chances of being recommended by Roblox.
During the 5-day ad campaign, I did not earn much. Out of the 5,700 Robux spent, I only earned back approximately 200-800 Robux. I should also clarify that I ran 2 ad campaigns for the second game though.
However, once Roblox started recommending my games a few days later, the earnings grew along with the CCU and the game updates, reaching an average monthly revenue of about 150k to 300k Robux per 100 CCU (800k to over 2m Robux/Month). The monetization wasn’t the best, though, since my average Robux earned per visit was around 0.62, while a decent rate is typically between 0.8 and 1.1 at best.
