Welcome to Lesson 2 of the ADVANCED section!

Note: If you have not learned the basics, please go to the basic tutorials back at the main menu!

In this lesson, we’re going to turn this

Into THIS

This tutorial is quite easy to understand, so enjoy!

What you need for this lesson
  • The Advanced Template
  • A drawing app of some sort
  • And some MOTIVATION

Let’s begin!

Step 1. Add basic shading and wrinkles!

Here I have a basic leather jacket design.

As stated in the title, add your shading and wrinkles to whatever design you’re making.

It should look similar to this!

Step 2. Blur it!

Blur the ends of the wrinkles with a blurring brush. If you need some visual explanation, watch the following video!

It should look like this!

Now, blur the rest of the basic shading—

—and lower the opacity to your liking.

Step 3. Add your highlights!

Now, please remember that my design is a leather jacket, meaning it will have brighter highlights than something that is fabric. If you’re design is fabric, make sure that you lower the opacity to make the lighting more subtle. You may also need lighter shading. Use a reference if you need to!

Alright, now add your highlights! (I lost the screenshot of mine) Then, blur them slightly, as shown in the video below!

Lower the opacity to your liking!

And you’re done! If you have any questions you can post them below and I can answer. Make sure to post and requested tutorials on the main topic!

P.S. I will post a picture of the jacket on an avatar another time
